For never was there a story of more woe than this of the Flames and their Johnny Gaudreau.

Cause he had the time to get a PR puff piece out? I'm less mad about him not signing than the way he did it.

Damage control, I don't buy the whole last minute decision crap.

I think he wanted to re-sign even this summer. He probably still wants to re-sign deep down. He wants a bit of everything. He's an indecisive guy.

Bull####.
Who’s the last star level player to re-up with a year left and arguably had more potential to hit?

I like the column. touches on what many people were thinking but the family comments really rang true.
Especially there were a few people going on about "he's rich and can just jump on a plane for family"
He likely had help writing it, but it seemed sincere. May be a puff piece but there is still likely a lot of truth in there.

Taking a while to get to 5000

He'll play for the Blue Jackets. That's punishment enough. All is forgiven.

As a guy who moved across the country after his mother got sick, I fully understand why Johnny made the decision to live closer to family. I think most people can understand that, it's just the way it all seemed to go down that was odd.

Likely had help writing it? It's definitely a ghost writer in these types of articles.

A lot of people found it odd Gaudreau hadn't said anything to the Calgary fanbase. Most would have tweeted, either a 30 second video or short blurb, thanking their former team and been done with it.
At least give him credit for trying to do something bigger.
I wish him the best.

Just trying to be nice.
There's been a few where I think the player did a fair bit of the work and just had it polished by a pro.
(lol. I know how that sounds)

Nice little article, but just because he was flip-flopping until the end and didn't decide until the last minute doesn't mean he was close to returning IMO. He just put off making the hard decision for as long as he could.
For his sake I hope Columbus treats him well but he'll never be supported like he was here.
