Are you covering for your mom? Was it her fault?

The suggestion was he was going to cover the defenceman. That's garbage, he needed to stay on Drai. He was right there.
Didn't you say you didn't want to post in here anymore? You should have followed your advice.

Nature of the game. Everyone makes mistakes all over the ice at all times. At some point one of those mistakes will lead to a series winning goal. Does that make one guy at fault for the entire series? Or is it a team game?

good grief there were a lot of passengers on the flames during that series. yes, johnny made a bad decision on that play and that play ended the flames misery - but make no mistake, there was no way the flames were coming back to win this series.

Speaking of bad decisions, IIRC it was that of 4 men in TO which decided that Coleman's goal was kicked in so title should read " 4 men in TO caused the loss to the Oilers in the 2022 playoffs"

Or maybe I read the title wrong and what the OP is trying to say is that because Johnny scored the OT winner in game 7 against the Stars, it is his fault that we then played the Oilers?

I actually blame Gaudreau for the mediocre Flames rebuild in the past 10 years.

Flames give up 17 points in 5 games to an injured Leon. there is plenty of bad performances to focus on without singling out someone who isnt here.

The absolute worst person to give up 17 in 5 to...

Not it isn’t. It’s funny, if you can’t handle a ‘mamma joke’ you might want to ask yourself if you’re a little over sensitive.

Not the point of the thread, but a incredibly weak pass up the boards seconds earlier from a relatively unpressured Hanifin is what is to blame there.

John should not be in any deeper than that, to be able to cover the point.
The capper for a terribly forgettable series for Hanifin.

Not to mention Coleman already won that game before the league cheated

As a diehard Oiler fan, you should change the title to Markstrom for that series. Guy was absolutely horrible. His best game save percentage wise was the 4-0 loss in game 3. That says it right there.
What is this 4-0 loss you speak of? Stinkeye did not shut the Flames out in game 3.

I think Markstrom wasn't great, but I don't hang the series loss on Markstrom either.

How many Grade A chances did the Flames present to the Oilers over and over again playing shinny rather than playing defence? Markstrom was hung out to dry in that series. Flames beat themselves as much as you can say the Oilers beat them. I didn't like that match-up to begin with - I didn't like the Flames playing Dallas, Edmonton or (not that they made the playoffs) San Jose. For some reason, the Flames just lose their minds and weird stuff happens. It is like those 3 teams just know all the buttons to press to get the Flames off their game.

So no, I don't blame Gaudreau - that series was lost before that play, and though it looked bad, that wasn't Gaudreau's guy anyway.

I don't blame Markstrom - he got more and more rattled as the series wore on, but becuase of the constant breakdowns allowing for high danger chance after high danger chance from 2 of the most dangerous players in the league, a really good shooter in Kane, and Hyman who was playing with a tonne of confidence.

Edmonton didn't rattle LA and barely squeaked by them. They certainly didn't rattle Colorado and got spanked. They just rattled Calgary, and Calgary needs to figure out why Edmonton (+ Dallas and SJ) seem to get them off their game so easily.
