I really don't know his physical condition. Certainly not well enough to say that he would pass a legit physical.

I think he would at worst be a replacement for Lucic's role, still a very tough player, maybe some untapped potential in a Sutter system. Worth the gamble for sure

Ha ha ha. I can't imagine how Canucks fans would have handled the last 12 months in Calgary if they are freaking out about Miller.

Well all we know is that he was fit enough to play every other day right up until they were eliminated and did not complain of injuries at all including post-series.

Pretty sure that moving Lucic would result in us giving up a pick if we have to dump his contract entirely with no retention. However with Arizona and Anaheim the “front runners”, maybe a chance to move him for nothing if we take a smaller contract back. For example.

Arizona - nick Ritchie. Real salary of $3m, cap hit of $2.5m. Arizona saves 2m in real salary, believe they would be all over this.

Anaheim. 2 options.
Option 1 - Derek Grant. Cap hit 1.5m. Salary 1.75m. Savings of 750k for Anaheim.
Option 2 - John Moore. Salary 2.25m. Cap hit 2.75m. Real money savings of 1.75m for Anaheim.

All 3 players can be buried for additional cap savings if needed. Given that it would appear that we want to make some room, this might be the cheapest way to do this as I don’t think that flames would need to surrender a pick in saving real money for the ducks or coyotes.
Lucic is only being paid 1 million in salary for this season and 3 million signing bonus that has been paid already and 6 million cap hit. If he is being moved to say an Arizona or Anaheim they don't need cap savings as they would likely be taking it it on to reach the cap floor but that would need an incentive to do as well. If he is moved to another team not needing that cap hit then taking 1/2 the cap hit should lower the return.

I believe the Coyotes still need to add salary to get to the floor. I suppose it's a matter of getting Lucic to sign off on a trade and he may not want to do that or it may have been done by now.

Shea Weber played all the way to game 6 of the Stanley Cup...now he's going to spend 5 years on LTIR.

Unless the rank and file who don't get these bonus injury years start to make a fuss about the escrow being high because the money spent on injured players comes out of overall revenue....no one is going to make a fuss about this.

I think Allvin and Rutherford may have overplayed their hand a bit. From what I've heard:

- They want to move Miller because the dollar value he's asking for is too high for the Canucks

- They believed someone would overpay for Miller and were waiting for their perfect return

- Other teams wanted a chance to talk to Miller first before making a deal to get assurances that he'd re-sign with them long term and also to understand what Miller wants, but Canucks already knew what Miller was looking for and were afraid that would likely scare teams off

- I heard that Canucks may have switched their stance and later allowed some GMs to talk to Miller (not sure if this is true)

- Canucks are now probably okay to get a lesser return than what they originally had hoped for, but teams may have already made their moves with the exception of a smaller set of teams that may still be interested

Hot Take:
If the Flames get Miller, he'll put up more points than Gaudreau does in CBJ next season.

He has a 10 team list that doesn't require him being asked, no whether Arizona is on there who knows but he seems to prefer the west. I have a theory that Lucic is taking a bit of the summer to decide if he wants to play this last year and if he does the Flames will move him.

I think the Flames landing Miller is the hotter take than him outscoring Gaudreau.

The Flames aren’t giving up the assets needed to get Miller.

Nor is Miller going to give any indication he would sign with the Flames

Not worthy of it's own thread but the Sharks just re-signed RFA Luke Kunin to a 2 year deal with an AAV of 2.75 M.

Been surprisingly quiet on the Kadri and Klingberg fronts. Haven’t even seen a list of teams interested in Kadri, and only a few teams that contacted Klingberg on day 1. Weird for free agents of their caliber to be unsigned this long.

Kadri makes sense, as I suspect teams are hesitant to give him the dollars or term he’s asking for. Klingberg I thought would be done by now.

They both want money and term with a good/contending team. Not a lot of spots for that.

I also think Kadri really wants to go back to Colorado so that might be why. Klingberg is definitely a bit puzzling.

I suspect Klingberg has priced himself above where the market sees him. Either the market adjusts or he does.
