Hard no on Klingberg. Offensive D-man whose career year offensively is five years back. Unless it’s a value contract, which as a UFA it won’t be. He’ll be looking for his retirement contract.

It's the yard sale mentality. ‘We need to get rid of all this useless junk. So let's make a fortune selling off all these rare treasures!’

RE: Klingberg

He put up 47 points in 74 games this year, for the team ranked 21st in goals-for in the NHL. His .63 ppg topped Heiskanen's .51ppg. If Klingberg were on the Flames, he probably would have approached 70 points. Is he one-dimensional? Sure, but it's a pretty damned good dimension, and Sutter would make him a way better 200-ft player. Klingberg is also adept at zone entry-who do have right now that can do that, now that we lost Johnny?

Agreed. He was noticeable all over in the Dallas series and knew exactly when to join or even lead the rush. Great powerplay quarterback as well.

I wouldn't mind adding Klingberg with the right price of course. He would be a pretty good PP QB. And of course, this.

I also agree. He owned the Flames both series, and he was getting battered relentlessly. Tough as nails and fearless.

The Flames lose a big time play maker in Gaudreau, and there really are no forward UFA's who are playmaker types. So really Klingberg to run the P.P. and help set up the likes of Lindholm, Tkachuck, and Mangiapane does have that in his game. Won't come close to Gaudreau, but might be one way to close some of that gap.

His career year being a while back is actually a good leverage point to negotiate from. We aren’t paying for a recent surge in points like we would be for Kadri or Gaudreau

There's no NHL team in Sweden, is there?

Just checking.

Why would we trade Mangiapane and acquire JVR? I’d rather keep the better player. Home grown too.

He turns 30 next month. If we sign him, the length of the contract is what scares me.

He likely can but I don't think we are in the position to give him a lot more.

If he wants to be here and win we need some "sweet heart" deals. Klingberg is good but has some holes in his game. We can't pay a d-man with flaws 7 million per year until he is 37.

Look at their cap situation.

We lost Gaudreau yes but we are in a far better cap situation than many of the perceived contenders.

People seem to forget that we won our division and a round and still have a top 5 LW, a great 2 way #1 center and a Vezina calibre goalie.
