I am not sure on the number, but I don't think for a second Tkachuk will accept less than what Brady is making now. Mathew is the better player. Brady's cap hit: $8,205,714 x 7.

Yeah some of you are insane... Tkachuk is not signing an 8x8... Brady's stats aren't even close and he got more

Put Brady with Jonny G and see what hits stats would be.
Brady is a much more complete player and a hell of allot better skater.

I doubt Tkachuk takes 10 x 8. He did have 104 points. Brady would need 2 seasons to get that many points
I think 11 x 8 probably gets it done.

Then for the love of God, don't get done.

But I doubt he gets 104 and he was on his first deal after ELC. Mathew is a year away from UFA. Matt got 7 x 3 after his ELC and he had better numbers back then too

The guy that was largely responsible has left town. For a lot less than 10x8.

I agree trade him. If you want a cap hit under $10 mil it probably will be 5 years

Disagree on more complete player. Tkachuk thrived on 3M

Brady is bigger, meaner and a better skater. Definitely true.
I will put Brady on with Gaudreau for a season - but only after he spends a season with Backlund playing shut-down. Let's see if he can produce 34 goals and 77 points.
Mathew is the better player. Maybe that changes in the future, but so far, Mathew has been the better player between the two.

If Tkachuk was UFA yesterday he would have had way more offers IMO

Matthew is a really good part of a core, but he isn’t the main guy you build around. He is the Landeskog, not the MacKinnon or Makar. Giving him over $9m you are paying him like a building block player.

I actually think he’s worth the 9 of his QO. It puts him above all but a handful of wingers, who are almost all better than him (eg Gaudreau, Kucherov, Stone, Rantanen).

Lots of guys thrive with centres like Backs
Tkachuk has played his whole career with excellent 2 way centres
Not just my opinion. Even old dog Keith had some lofty praise of Backs

The money being discussed in here is bananas. This is a 70 point player without Gaudreau.

Well he has already scored 77 without him in his third year in the league and brings more to the table than points
Tkachuk is a player every team wants, you are bananas to think he won't get it from the Flames or someone else.
I promise you the Blues or Sens will give him 9+ just for starters

I honestly could see Lindholm and Tkachuk being perennial 70-80 point players if they stick together.
A perennial 70 point player is worth at least $9M, if one 35 goal season gets you $64M from Ottawa.
8x9.76M, and the captaincy.

Absolutely I would, I am not interested in just making the playoffs on the odd occasion and we lost the battle of Alberta in fact we were thrashed. It should be all about winning the cup and to do that your asset management has to be excellent, especially in a small market team. Teams like Calgary absolutely cannot afford to lose their star players for nothing or even just good players.
