OK, Mr. Kadri: Gaudreau is 29, scored 115 points and got 7x9.75. He is a career PPG. You are three years older and scored 87 points. You are a career .7 PPG. So we will offer a three year shorter contract and 70% of his money. $6.8M

where though? We have a bit over $18m right now and still need to sign Tkachuk, Mangiapane and Kylington.

Only if they are still moving Lucic and/or Monahan. Maybe with Gaudreau leaving they've abandoned that plan?
Looks pretty tight with projected contracts for Tkachuk/Mangiapane and Kylington

After Zadorov and the other AHL depth, we're down to about $18.5 million worth of cap space. We'd have to move Monahan or Lucic's salary.
Assuming you can lock Chucky up for like 9-10ish, Mangiapane for 5 and Kylington at 3ish that basically covers it all - not even sure we have room to bring Stone back after all that

I still think it makes sense to trade Lucic to Anaheim. I don't even think it would cost a sweetener to do it, and I think Looch would waive to go there.

In other words, we aren’t in a position to sign him without letting RFA’s walk.

But it also includes Monahan, who if he is on LTIR for the whole season means there is another $6.3 available.

People keep mentioning Monahan being on LTIR for a long time this season... I swear I remember reading they expect him to be recovered & ready to go for start of camp. I mean sure, maybe he gets injured again I suppose...

Don’t have a reference, but I read the same regarding him being available for the start of the season.

According to Tre he's supposed to be good to go. But even if he weren't, Flames need to be cap compliant before factoring in LTIR at the start of the season. This board had similar conversations on LTIR usage when Eichel was being shopped.
Which means one of the RFAs would have to be holding out. And then unless there's an injury that could allow Mony to come back, some salary would have to be moved. Not the kind of cloud you want hanging over your team to start the year after such a brutal offseason.

Next year's 1st will be most valuable pick for trade asset. If Jersey still looking to trade for MT I'd love get their 1st, plus a good prospect and a roster player which has 1 or 2 year left as cap balance.
Or find weaker team like Arizona, Buffalo, MTL or MIN and Nash.
I don't think MT wants to go OTT and play under his captain younger brother.

Fair enough.
I stand corrected.

I'd still take Stastny here for something reasonable.

He had good things to say about Sutter and the Flames in his exit interview at the end of the Jets season. Could be a possibility.
