The CBA is very specific about what kind of clauses can be included in a player contract. To the best of my knowledge, that is not one of them.

Besides, Philly is not a party to the contract, so Columbus (or any other team) has no authority to bind them. What happens if the time comes and Philly doesn't want to trade for him? It would be an unenforceable provision.

Wow. None of this makes sense. Columbus is closer, but a plane ride is a plane ride.

Just doesn’t make sense. Could have gone back to the flames for a 10.5x7 at least.

With Philly out of the picture maybe Columbus was just the next best option for him.

Devils close to home? Check.
Up and coming team with centre depth? Check.
Most money? Well, unknown but maybe.

You have to sign. Devils aren’t even the biggest Flyer rival anyway.

You know at first I was quite mad reading this.
But then like most I started to question my own sanity in terms of how could this be it....

Then it started to become funny, but not in a haha way but more so in a "wow thats f__kd way.

Now I'm actually quite embarrassed for the guy and I almost feel bad.
He ruined a legacy, he ruined fan appreciation and respect and likely some with teammates as well.

He straight up lied to the Flames organization to some extent.

I'm shocked, I feel pity for his poor decision.
I'm sad to say he's lost my respect, not that he cares but I was actually okay with his decision when it was rumored to be closer to home. This makes no sense and is clearly a giant f__k you to the flames franchise.

I wonder what its about..

Yes. It’s different than choosing to play for your childhood team - that’s just “dream come true”. But refusing to play for the childhood rival is ridiculous. And Flyers-Devils isn’t some storied rivalry like Alberta. Flyers’ main rival IMO has always been the Pens and Rangers. Devils are third at best.

Wait, did scooter actually come out as Francis? I know many said it was his CP account and I could have sworn he said it himself on here a few years ago. But then someone else said it wasn't, so I was confused.

Obviously it seems that something backfired with NJ and the other teams near his hometown. However, as far as the geography goes, being in the Metro division means playing in the Jersey area for loads of games. Also, as disgusting as it is to think of, we’re not past the risk of covid affecting cross-border travel again for his family.
