but that's the other weird thing, he didn't have to sign today. He could have waited a few more days to see if something materializes, instead it just looks like they panicked. So, so weird.

At least when some other franchise players around the league hit UFA in a couple years, they’ll probably sign here. Columbus loses Panarin, gains Gaudreau, let’s see what happens.
A big ol go #### yourself to johnny and his representation, see ya never

Eff the jackets! Laine will bolt the first chance he gets.

Although, you'd think the total number of flights would be a bigger factor than air time since an extra hour or two in the air isn't that big a deal, especially with the planes these guys fly on.
I'd expect the total number of flights to be roughly the same for the Flames or Jackets. The only other teams that Columbus kind of close to are Pittsburgh and Detroit (and they're not even in the same Division as Detroit).

There’s a reason he never wore a letter for this team. A reason why he’d never wear the C

I have a source, apparently Johnnys says he hasn’t been treated right for two years and there may have been issues with some of the players. Who knows though.

(comment removed)
It's time for the Flames to build around winners, guys who (comment removed) are willing to pay a physical price to win in the playoffs.

Nothing at all against the Jackets in this. If anything, I'm impressed they made the deal.

I can't imagine what's thought is going on within the Flames organization right now.
The rumor is that Murray Edwards personally presented an offer and he turned it down for one that is less money, less term, less well managed franchise, less competitive team, worse city, and not really close to family.
Like wtf...

Sign and trade? Maybe he took a sweetheart deal with Columbus as a deal is in the works to send him closer to home and Columbus gets a package with a salary dump in return?
That would make some sense.
If not. Baffling.

I am glad its a team that I have no feelings towards, one way or the other. I don't mind their fans being rewarded either.
I'm also glad that it's a team that will likely be a perennial 10th place-er drifting perpetually in no man's land.

Legitimately, this organization has a lot of work to do.
This should be the wake up call.

Breaking up hurts way less when he leaves you for the ugly chick from Ohio.

I find this hard to believe. He was treated like royalty here and likely would have had his number retired if he signed another deal here. He was the guy.
If this is true he’s ####### delusional.

It was interesting how Boomer on twitter was adamant that Gaudreau would not command 10M+ on the open market. Knowing Treliving is one of the more communicative GMs out there, perhaps he knew the market better than Gross and ultimately called his bluff. Unreal.
