The original thoughts and prayers seemed to have not made it through; everyone send their thoughts and prayers louder to Kulak and the Kulak family.

Kulak isn't the same player he used to be. Not a terrible deal though I guess.

Was worried he would sign somewhere else. Good term and AAV for him. Wonder if someone like Barrie still gets moved.

That's good value for Kulak.

Sadly must agree with consensus, this seems like a reasonable deal.

Think this is a fair deal for Kulak, and what he brings. Better than the overpay they did for Russell in the past, that's for sure.

The Oilers D is still brutal and they are out of cap space

Oilers having a really good off-season so far. And I don't like it one bit.

As much as I would like to agree, I would say its serviceable. Of course I hope it fails miserably but at this moment they are looking like a serious contender. This is the worst timeline for a Flames fan.

Where have they improved from the team that got swept? D is worse, goaltending the same

It's the same D that was bad last season minus Keith who was at least #3
And they weren't good last season

How is re-signing all your players for more money a good off-season? Serious question.

Is Kulak their best defenceman now?

They have some good value signings in Kane and Kulak. And additions by subtraction in losing Kassian, Keith, and Smith. Campbell isn't cheap but he's an upgrade over Smith. And if they land Brown, they're doing well. Still big holes on the D, to be fair.

Kulak is going to have to play in that top 4 role, that's the tough thing, he's got to be real value for that dollar amount. Because frankly as gaudy as Bouchard's numbers are offensively, he's not good in his own end, and Boberg it feels like is being rushed.
But a blueline of Barrie, Nurse, Cici, Bouchard, Boberg and Kulak isn't a contender blueline.
We saw the distance between a team like Edmonton and Colorado is.
I think last season was completely cinderella for the Oilers in the playoffs and the shoe didn't come off against the Avs, they were blown off.
