Mikheyev seems like a good guy to have if your goal is to get faster. Seems like maybe a million too much to me, but then again, 21 goals in 53 games will get you over 4M.

I was reading that one of the biggest issues between Toronto and Mikheyev was that he wanted a consistent and legitimate shot to play in the top-six. Have to imagine that is something the Canucks put on the table for him

Yeah, well the Canucks basically don't have any LWs. They have Pearson (3rd line), Kuzmenko (who the hell even knows) and Hoglander (bad for a while and then got injured last year). That seems to be it unless Podkolzin switches over and even there it's not a slam dunk he should be in your top 6 yet either. So it makes sense from an opportunity perspective.

He had some of the team's best underlying offensive driving numbers last season. Teammates not finishing/bad luck are not the same as bad.

Boudreau seemed to take all his minutes and give them to Podkolzin though, so, yeah

I dont think him being Russian hurt either, with Pod and Kuzmenko both already there

Maybe a bit of an overpay, I would have been ecstatic at 4

But he fits what is needed up front with his speed and finishing

Canucks paid a premium for a forward that hits almost every need they have up front.

Fast
Has some ability to score
High end penalty killer

Would have preferred a RD, but those are harder to find.

My leaf friends all say he's fast but that's it. Though he always looked good to me.
