He's better than Nurse and at 24 years old it's reasonable to expect he's not yet in his prime so it could be a good contract. Or he could be an overpaid 2nd pairing defenseman. Time will tell.

If they didn't employ Hedman he'd probably score around 60 points every year. This doesn't seem like an overpay to me, I just think the guy is underrated.

Yeah he would put up a lot more points if he got 1st PP unit time so I think there's untapped offensive production there.
