I believe his contract is under the zero cap impact for sending him down to the AHL if it doesn't work out.
If so zero risk move for free NHL depth.
Not sure why anyone would get but hurt for a move like this.

I don't see what people are getting worked up about. Ruzicka is no hell. Rooney is a few hundred K more, for a guy that can play in the NHL.
It's a giant meh. But not something to get upset about.

I thought the zero cap limit was the league minimum? If it is under the cap limit it is a zero risk signing, but if it is above the Flames will pay the difference against the cap.
