I guess that's how the alerts are supposed to work (targetting only the areas that are in the vicinity)? I never received one at all and I was downtown.

My wife and son texted me at 5pm not to come home (Tuscany) as they were getting blasted with heavy rain etc. I waited it out for a bit until the all clear from them. My commute home (Bow Trail/Sarcee/TCH/Stoney was bone dry on the roads until turning north onto Stoney. Didn't look like it even rained on the west side of town at all.

Did you wait under an underpass?

Preach!

Was looking at my phone earlier and saw the "Environment Canada Weather Warning" across the top of my phone and I'm thinking "Oh FFS, what now?" and it's warning of awesome weather

I'm happy to get those notifications for sure.

Where's the gagging smoke smell coming from? Was asleep with all our windows open and the stench woke me up. Finally had to get up and close the windows. Cripes, it's thick.

I noticed smoke around 11-ish in Tuscany, but it didn't seem like somebody's firepit. It smelled different too - almost like really thick cigarette smoke, but more than a neighbour could produce on their own. I have no idea where it originated from.

Large fire in Lytton, BC now that is growing and currently at 1,500 hectares.

Careful if you're planning on traveling around there this weekend

West side of the river. No need for concern.

Nothing to do with the fire (although that frickin' blows) but if you don't already know about it, Horsting's Farm Market near Cache Creek makes amazing food. It's not fancy/gourmet, but I've never had a bad meal there, if you're looking for somewhere to eat around those parts.

Get a thermacell patio shield. An absolute game changer. Mosquitos cease to exist in a 20' dome around you. I just bought one at Canadian Tire this week and it's a total game changer. You don't even need to wear bug spray. About $70 and the size of a google home.

Thanks for the info. I still have 1 more night here yet. Did the local suggestion Hungry Herbies last night. Crazy busy place especially for way out here, must have been 20 cars there. Food was OK but nothing to rave about IMO.
