Yep. Highest profile UFA in as long as I can remember, and of course he's leaving the Flames.

I mean, Tavares was huge obviously, but he wasn't coming off a 115 point season.

Who I think will come in at the smallest cap, middle term and biggest team impact on forward :

Ilya Mikheyev
Max Domi
Frank Vatrano

I would try to lock up these guys to between 3 to 5 years, and 10M/per for all of them together. I love players like Trochek, but I'm afraid that they would be just good enough to get into the playoffs, and cost enough that nothing else would come of it.

Weaponize that cap space for later in the season.
