So... What move by the Flames tomorrow feels like a win. I honestly can't decide.
Younger players with promise to cheap AAVs I guess, but those typically aren't day1 moves.

The way Brad was talking I wouldn't be shocked if the Flames do nothing.

To be honest, nothing.

Even if they decide to move Tkachuk, take your time with that.

Maybe some young possible rebound candidates.

0 moves in UFA that will replace John.LOTS of chances to sign an over priced UFA and botch this franchise even further into oblivion.

 The move is simple.

Take the loss, find the best you can for Matthew and trade him for assets.
Sell off @ the deadline and hope you get into the top 3 of next years draft, hopefully win it.

Nothing crazy would be a win.

Also not paying Kadri a billion dollars would be a win. I want us to stay very far away from Kadri as that deal will not age well.

Envision an identity and find players who fit.

I fully expect us to sign Burakovsky though as he trains with some of the players here and is super close to Anderson.

Zero chance of this happening. Maybe a trade of Tkachuk but the return will be awful.

No, sell off assets now when GM's are going to start bidding wars. Team misses out on a C, who wants to pay up for Lindholm? Team still needs a goalie, markstrom just became available. Need a yound defenceman, Hanifin is ready to go? Goal scoring winger, eat some bread! Hey Dallas, need a hometown hero, we've got just the guy!

Best thing we can do tomorrow is do nothing.
Then take the next few months to get a trade done with Tkachuk and do a bit of a rebuild.

Perhaps it’s situations like these that give evidence to support that the draft should happen after free agency opens. If Johnny wanting to test free agency occurred before, once Wright didn’t go #1, perhaps Flames could have traded Tkachuk for picks 2-4 + more assets and drafted Wright.
Trading Tkachuk now for a future first round pick is a crapshoot because who knows what number that pick will be. In the former case, we’d know for sure we’d be getting Wright once he didn’t go #1, and that would be the #1C we’ve never truly had since the 80s, and a perfect start to a proper rebuild with a franchise talent to surround.

Now that ship has sailed too lol.

If JG signs with NJ, offer MT and MarkstrumFor Nico, the guy they picked 2nd and at least one 1st. Retain a bit of salary to make it even better for NJ

Move Hanifin for a boatload . Trade Backlund . Offer Malkin 12 million for 1 year and flip him at deadline with retained salary

The Flames can somehow salvage this tomorrow if they can sign Tkachuk for something like 11m, x 8 and name him captain. Make everyone else available at the right price. That will help start a rebuild without pissing off a lot of fans....

Well your point is getting lost. Johnny Gaudreau is 28 years old and the flames just offered him 80 million dollars but trying to sign a 29 year old Center which Darryl sutter loves is bad?

Tkachuk is not going to sign long term if they are going to sell everyone off. That kills half his deal as a bottom feeder.

Signing a player to an 88mil contract doesn't scream rebuild...

Why does Darryl love Trocheck?

And Trocheck is nowhere near elite like Gaudreau, trust me I've watched him since he came to the league. You sign elite UFAs all day long, middling ones no thanks.

Malkin would be my target. Least amount of commitment and still a very good player.
