Scoring Winger

Welp, rebuild time.
That being said, some serious revisionist history going on here. Last summer, we weren't talking about a Hart trophy contender on an elite team, we were talking about a guy who floated around 50th in scoring on a bubble team. Sure, we could've signed him to $9Mx8 but there was a very real belief that this was the last kick at the can before a painful rebuild, and we'd be selling him as a rental at the deadline.

Have reluctantly come to the conclusion that BT crapped the bed....it's time for him to go. If we could fire Murray Edwards, that would be good, too.
Dreadful day for Calgary...and mostly avoidable.

Just informed he wasn't going to resign with Calgary and it wasn't about the money.

The moment Treliving couldn’t sign him last summer, he should have made the move
There was no playoff to sacrifice at that point and who said they couldn’t get real players for him?

Of course he does. He doesn't want to show his hand. Of course he's going to say he's not going to make panic moves even if his work over the next week may prove otherwise.

I honestly can't listen to this drivel coming from tree. He's lost in the woods.

They would have traded him at the deadline for something if the team had been bad but they weren't bad, we were stoked on the team all year long. Seriously

A forward looking GM with good owners would have traded him before his NTC kicked in.
An even better GM would have never given out such a bad NTC in the first place so that the team would have more options.

Johnny, Brodie, Gio gone for free. Tkachuk probably to join.
Monahan injured to a point of no value.
Absolutely shocking how the core from recent years has ended up.

Without a market as loyal as Calgary, Brad Treliving’s Flames would be playing in front of 10,000 fans most seasons.
|
How many fans would they have been playing in front of if they had traded Gaudreau for garbage last summer? A lot fewer.
How many playoff tickets would they have sold? Zero.

Thinking through this critically, I’m not sure how Treliving doesn’t get shown the door (purposely not using the word fired).

Never heard Tre sound so deflated. Don't blame him. Sad day for Flames fans.

Even if the flames knew he was leaving a week ago, I doubt it makes much difference. Or two weeks ago. Almost no chance Chucky gets traded either way.
For better or worse, it would seem Flames ownership/management seem dead set against any retool or rebuild and want a perpetual playoff contender.
|
Its sickening that management and ownership continues to do this to this loyal, dying for a winner, passion filled fan base. Now BT is spouting off about crap like its "its easy to play Monday morning quarterback".

Johhny
Now you can go and be soft , scared and gutless elsewhere.
Sure....you piled allot of points but you will go down even worse than Iginla.
At least Iggy had balls.
If you could somehow convince your best buddy to walk away too the Flames don't need a broken player who can't do squat anymore. He can't drive his own line anyway and never could.
There's never any feel good moments that last with this team and since we're turning another corner , losing another player .....Bradley I hope your packed and ready to go its time!!!
Dear lord Stanley....please bless this mess and bring us a center or 2 or at the very least someone who can complement Elias .
We need certain players to step way way way up ....I'm looking at you Dube, Mangiapane, Coleman.
We need a big ticket player that's not soft, scared and willing to walk thru fire to succeed.
Oh and Johhny....don't let the door hit you too hard on the way out.
