Least surprising news of the summer. They really need to trade Tkachuk now while his value is at its highest before they lose him for nothing next year as well

Yeah, it was totally within Treliving's power to abolish free agency in the NHL.

Not surprised he's leaving.

Wish he could have just said so earlier.

Cycle of Flames fan pain shall continue.

This tweet could be from July 12 2021 and it would probably be just as accurate.

Flames are the epitome of mediocre, and them trying to maintain competitiveness without Johnny (instead of the full rebuild they obviously should be embarking on) will be a whole new spectacle in mediocrity. Weeeee!

Yeah, we should, but you know we’re going to go after and overpay Kadri and whoever else to try and replace Johnny.

Who even knows what we could’ve sold Lindholm for (and still can).

Enough already. It didn’t work with this group.

Hopefully this is just Lewis Gross leaking info to the media trying to drive the price up for the Flames.

Sucks for sure.

But not all doom and gloom, this team has needed to change directions for a while and this can be the catalyst for it.

Would rather have Jonny but I feel there is a small silver lining

Gaudreau is literally a hockey fan's dream.

Drafted mid-round. Rival fans said he was too small.

College defencemen would crush him.

WJC defencemen would crush him.

WHC defencemen would crush him.

NHL defencemen would crush him.

He proved them wrong every time.

We got to watch his almost exponential development from college, the WJC, WHC, and eventually to the NHL as a 115 point player.

Absolutely unreal. How lucky we were to have him. How fun was he to watch. How rewarding it was to see him blossom.

'Disappointing' doesn't even describe how sad I am to see him go.

Shame. As long as the Flames were serious about the offer they gave him, then it's hard to have any regrets here. Wish him the best of luck, don't you ####ing dare sign with a rival
