Maybe it's me, but if it's just about family, use the extra $11m to move all of them here - why does he need to be close to them? Honestly, he could move 50 people here and buy each family a house.

I wonder what the Gaudreau camp number was last summer. Not sure how Johnny could just pick up and leave after the club made it clear that if he had a good season they would want to continue the relationship and if he struggled again they would go their separate ways.

He already has a beach house out there for the offseason...good enough
careful what you wish...should he leave and after the Flyers/Devils have a terrible season he might want to summer in Calgary

I'd say use the extra money to buy a summer home/cottage near the mountains for family to stay while visiting.

Maybe they don’t want to move from the big city out to a small city. Could be the case. Who knows, they might even have their own friends and family out east.

Everyone is different. Johnny is obviously very close to his family and it’s not shocking that he’d like to live near them. Especially with his wife expecting their first kid. I don’t get why it’s hard for some people to wrap their heads around that
