That was a really bad presentation tbh lol, NASA might want to invest in some media training, or hire Mark Rober back as a contractor for these kind of events.

Let’s not forget that the actual reveal is tomorrow.
This is a press event for the current government administration.

"Thousands of galaxies – including the faintest objects ever observed in the infrared – have appeared in Webb’s view for the first time. This slice of the vast universe covers a patch of sky approximately the size of a grain of sand held at arm’s length by someone on the ground.
This deep field, taken by Webb’s Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam), is a composite made from images at different wavelengths, totaling 12.5 hours – achieving depths at infrared wavelengths beyond the Hubble Space Telescope’s deepest fields, which took weeks." (Emphasis mine)

 That's pretty cool.

Cool picture. I am more interested in the implications and how it advances science. Did they reveal anything new in terms of our understanding of the universe?
I guess it will take years to collect and analyze data to make discoveries, so I don't mean to sound antagonistic, but I would love to know what it all means in the big picture.

Didn’t expect much from Biden, but Bill Nelson not being able to form a coherent sentence seemed odd. He seemed nervous

The more I think about it the more I can see him being flustered.

I dunno it is cool but after all the hype I was hoping for a little more than PS5 remastered version of Hubble deep field. Maybe some of the stuff tomorrow will be cooler

Impressive how far it was reaching (light that is 13B years old), but I wanted to see the surface of exoplanets and fantastical nebulas.

For comparison Hubbles deep field was taken over 12 day period aiming at a dark spot in the sky the size of a finger, Webb’s image was taken over a 8 hour period aiming at a spot the size of a grain of sand.

In the image they provided us loaded with lensing of galaxies we’ve never seen before, far off in the distance behind other galaxies. What would be “cooler”?

This isn’t an Instagram device. Cooler discovery’s will likely come from professionals studying the data provided by this scientific instrument…

Yup. All that in the darkest spot in space, the size of a thumbnail. It's pretty huge. It's like we are a baby and our eyes are just developing and things are coming into focus.
I ,ant wait for some of the close ups on planets and Nebulae.

Wasn't some of the stuff they showed like billions of light years away as well. Crazy to think we are seeing something from billions of years ago.

This is what I'm waiting for as well. Cool that we can get a shot of one of the deepest spots in space, but personally I'd like to see more closeup, higher quality shots of neighboring star systems.

I was expecting cooler as well. This is higher-res than what we've seen before, but it honestly - to my untrained eye - doesn't look like anything I haven't seen before. K, galaxies are swirly. Yeah, I knew that. There are a bazillion blobs of galaxies, nebulas, etc. in parts of space that look black from my backyard. Yeah, I knew that.

I'm super stoked astronomers are going to learn so much and it's great we have this, but I'm not blown away. I swear I saw a picture of what they just showed us on a poster in Spencer Gifts like four years ago.

The Hubble has had 30 years to blow us all away, let's give Webb more than a few more hours.
