I'm always amazed at how people struggle to know what 'facts' are on online forums.

Imagine getting your teeth caved in by the avs and then presenting that info as if it was a close series. Japan lost in WW2 as well, let's just not mention the nukes.

To be fair the Oilers also had a 'really close sweep' last year too.
Amazing it keeps on happening to that team. Probably because they are so good. Only a team that good could get swept that closely.

Since 2010, only ONE team in the NHL has an aggregate worse winning percentage than the Oilers.
Buffalo Sabres.
No no....you’re doing well.

And the troll has succeeded. I can’t wait until Johnny re-signs.

Got swept by the Avs whom the Blues beat twice, Panthers, Leafs, ect. Would have beat the Oilers

Are you talking about the Doughty who magically had to go on LTIR as soon it was clear they would be playing the Oilers?

If Johnny decides to walk because of family reasons then there is nothing the Flames could have done to change his mind. If some of the rumours are true that they don’t want to go much higher than the 9.5 million offer that was made and that causes him to walk I will be extremely angry. A guy like Johnny deserves to be paid and Superstar players like this are extremely hard to find.
I remember once when Burke didn’t make a trade because he was getting low ball offers from other teams and didn’t want to set a precedent that Calgary was the location other teams would go to rip GM’s off. In principle I get it, but this is not the time to be trying to make a point.
Pay the man already and be wise in other areas of your roster (I.e. not overpaying for 3rd and 4th line players). Obviously this is just speculation and we don’t know what’s happening between closed doors but I will be very disappointed and angry with the team if they are sticking to their guns on the 9.5 million number.

What?
I didn't know that! I can't believe I never read that anywhere in this thread, or heard it anywhere else over the last year or so.
My glass is definitely half empty now.

Think tomorrow is going to be a stressful day. I wonder how many times I will hit refresh ? Get him signed!!! Sorry but there are no other superstars in the nhl that would even contemplate signing with the flames as a ufa. Flames have a rare chance to be able to snag one. Let’s do this!!!

Meh, I agree with part of what he said (we should rebuild if we lose Gaudreau and Tkachuk), just said it wouldn't be that easy due to the team's (and really the league's) impatience to rebuilds.
I kinda skipped over the Oilers stuff because that's how I deal with conversations with my in-laws and coworkers, lol

That is one rule I'd like to see the NHL change...the current team should be able to offer the 8th year even once free agency starts.
It's good for the current team as they still have the final advantage, but also good for the player as it truly lets them see what is on the market.
It made sense when there was the courting period to have it not extend into free agency but with the courting period gone you're asking the player to make a choice and actually hurts the current team potentially.

Reminds me of that great CollegeHumor skit where they try to argue with the Internet bridge troll.
Best just not to engage unless you're looking for your blood to boil!

If there is one thing we have become used to as Flames fans it is finishing runner up for a big trade and in this case signing.

Success is measured in so many ways now.
With the amount of banners raised in recent years up there, they should be serving hotdogs with all that kool-aid.
