This almost feels like MM is done and the Sens are giving the Leafs picks to pay his contract while he finishes up on LTIR.

The Leafs don’t have the extra cap. They are seriously thinking Murray would save them

Imagine getting rid of Andersen because he "couldn't get it done in the playoffs", then letting a worse, but still decent Campbell go because he's going to be too expensive, and ending up with Matt Murray.

I don’t think that’s it. I think the Leafs are genuinely banking on a rebirth.
From January 13-March 5, onward, Murray started 13 games. He went 5-7-1, and closed out his year losing 6 straight.
But he had a save percentage over .900 in 9 of those games. His save percentage was over .930 8 times. He allowed 2 goals or less 8 times.
That’s what I’d be telling myself as a Leaf fan, but I don’t know how much I’d believe it.

Yeah Murray had a few spurts last year… but then he was injured. Again. Because he’s injured all the time. Pretty big risk with a guy with such an injury history, including concussions. I don’t get it at all.

Help, save, whatever.

Keefe and Dubas have the Murray connection from the Soo but I don't like the deal. 50% retained would be reasonable but for 25% the sweeteners should have been sweeter.

Giroux to OTT?
Their D looks atrocious. They picked 6 D in the top 50 (including Sanderson) from 2018-21, so maybe some will start to graduate.
Capfriendly shows that they have burned a year off Sanderson's ELC without him even playing a game yet?

My friend said some goalie coaches out there think he can still be good?

This is weird as F but I love it. Big big big roll of the dice here by Dubas. I could see if he was cheap and they had another cheap 1B to let them battle it out, but he’s not even cheap. Weird as F but I love it.

Nah, the Flames had a defined list of prospects they were allowed to pick from and knew they would be getting one off them. Odd trade to be sure.

That team needs a goalie and this is the best he could do? Not sure why they keep Nylander around but use bandaids on the blue line and in goal.

Skoula, Regehr, Parker and Ramzi Abid.
Word is the Flames wanted Tanguay on that list too but the Avs refused.
I favored Skoula. Boy I was wrong!

That’s how future considerations works sometimes…acquiring team hasn’t had a chance to scout certain guys so they get a few months to decide between a few

Well, they do have Chabot who is a bona fide 1D. But they do need support on D. They have 4 D in the minors who could move up. They also have significant cap space to get some decent UFA D. Maybe Zadorov or Gudbranson wind up there.

Offhand, I can't think of any other case in which future considerations worked that way. Can somebody name some others?
