Default A bit of good news (about Tanev)

From a broader update from the Athletics beat writer

“Chris Tanev – who is recovering from offseason surgery – is expected to be ready to play by the start of the season, if not the start of training camp.

He stayed in Calgary for rehab and is back home in Toronto continuing his recovery process.

“He’s doing really well,” Treliving said. “We’re pretty hopeful with (his) timeframe.”

After the season, I wondered if the Flames would need to find someone who could step into Tanev’s spot on the blue line before his return. That shouldn’t be the case anymore.

“We don’t expect it’s going to be a situation where we have to replace Chris for a portion of the year,” said Treliving.”

Toughness and rapid healing powers?

Tanev = Wolverine confirmed.

What was the surgery repairing again? At the end of the playoffs I remember it was multiple things. Shoulder?

Are they pushing the season back to January? Because did t one of the media who covers Calgary mention that he's gone until January?

I like this info much better.

Would be great to have another defenseman with a similar skillset to Tanev. Wishful thinking, I know.

This is the thing. Once Tanev went down this team was complete crap.

We bash the Oilers for being a thin team, but seriously, we lost 1 guy and it was like everyone else forgot how to hockey.

It was brutal.

Labrums are 3-6 months for healing/rehab. He’s on the lower end or he’s just a complete beast and willed his shoulder to heal early. I’m leaning toward he’s a beast.

Nikita Zadorov (cracked ribs), Oliver Kylington (dislocated shoulder), Andrew Mangiapane (sprained wrist), Matthew Tkachuk (cracked metacarpal) and Milan Lucic (sprained knee)

Hardly 1 guy

Just glad to hear he'll be back sooner than later.
I'm still astonished by Tanev and what he brings to this team on and off the ice.
Damn Good player.

Need to resign Gud

Andersson Hanifin
Tanev Kylington
Gudbranson Mackey/Valimaki/Stone

Not too bad but not sure how the hell we are going to get a true #1 D. Until then we are not a real contender

No man, players were injured, thats fine, it happens to everyone after an 82 game season and playoffs, its not that production went down by players with injuries.

The team had no cohesion and looked like a group of dudes running around with no idea what they should be doing.

The loss of Tanev threw the team into complete disarray.

I think having 3 of the top six Dmen, 2 top six forwards injured had a lot to do with the loss to Edmonton, they were lucky to get by Dallas

Every team in the playoffs can claim a few injuries. It’s not really an excuse. The Flames were relatively healthy.
