That said they are using this to get customers and I do not blame them.
Interac Rogers the Canadian Government, massive fail here.
Will our PM speak on this?
Is it time for the Emergency Powers Act again? I could actually support that right now.

What deals? Looking at their website it seems pretty standard

Same bank here. I can access everything but my Visa... I guess I didn't try e-transfer though and allegedly that is down right now too.
I wonder how many larger corporations are going to jump to having dual ISPs after this incident? ... I would have set it up if we weren't a non-profit org... and what we do was more critical but we do have dual ISPs for a mobile service and Rogers is the failsafe but Bell hasn't failed over long enough for Rogers to kick in.
... how many law firms are going to sue Rogers because that's what they do?
Nearly 20 years ago I worked at an IT support company and a Windows Update borked one of our clients servers... that client was a law firm. One lawyer asked who he should sue and I laughed. Another one pulled me aside later and said I should cover my butt and not talk to that guy anymore because he was serious. Thankfully nobody got sued.

A colleague just shared something on the company group chat - a screenshot from a Rogers customer service chat that indicates service will be down until Monday.
Edit: That post appears to be from a hacked customer service interaction.
More accurately, Rogers has absolutely no idea when things will be back up and running.
These companies are fabulously bloated and inefficient at the best of times, relying on the magic of their technology to function.
Without any of that, Actually solving this by Monday would be quite an accomplishment.
For real, anyone who wants to look into switching providers, hit that PM button.

Right now I’m paying about $235 for three lines on Rogers. However two of those lines have unlimited everything and the third has 15gb of data. I would be willing to switch, I’m tired of of this. 14 years with Rogers

It looked like it for a moment. phone connected to the network even if it didn’t do anything. Then back off again.

A few very brief moments of “Rogers” appearing and then going back to “No Service”.

I don’t think so. I have been getting a minute of service here and there for a few hours now. If it does connect it says Rogers-Ext.
I have 6 lines with Rogers with a shared 90GB of full data and unlimited slower data after that. Unlimited Canada calling and text. It’s around $40 a line plus $75 for the main line. Telus didn’t come anywhere close to that.

I'm no lawyer but will some businesses be able to sue Rogers for lost revenue?

Someone more in the know may prove me wrong, but I'd bet of all the things telecoms cheap out on, litigation is not one. I'd be willing to bet they have very airtight legal wording in their contracts that doesn't allow for being sued for loss of service for a short or long period of time.

My plan ended 2 weeks ago, and I swore I would switch to Telus after this happened last April. This totally seals it.
I was wondering though, for those on a contract still, doesn't this at some level void it? if they can't provide the service you signed up for, I would think that's some kind of breech of contract.

I honestly can't remember if it's Telus or Shaw now, but I know one of them had a clause of three "problems" and you could get out of a contract. So for example if your internet crapped out three times with three service calls to attempt to fix then your contract was over.
Not sure what Rogers has, if anything.

Really annoying. I was flexing today and was happy at first because I got to relax without my phone ringing, but I had no idea things were down. Go to check my work email at 2 PM and find out #### was going down all day and now have a lot stuff to deal with this weekend that could have been avoided by a couple of phone calls earlier in the day.
Funny though, I got an email from Telus advertising "more reliable service". They are jumping all over this.

Metrolinx in the GTA couldn't accept credit or debit today. I imagine a lot of people were late for work, appointments, and other engagements because most people don't carry cash. Traffic was probably horrible too.

Obviously it’s all Trudeau’s fault.
