Compare him to the Oilers 1st round pick and it doesn't seem so bad!

Only 9 less points while playing with significantly less talent on a dumpster fire team.

Yeah I don’t think the production is terrible. 2nd in scoring on a junk team. You always want guys that are impact players for their current teams.

Definitely not a sexy pick but at this point in the draft I don’t know if there are many sexy picks left.

Is it me or did we trade away most of our draft picks?

We traded away more than half.

I was going to say something similar- and to be clear I have no intel on either player so this isn't' a haha Oilers or yay Flames post

both teams took a September 03 (5 days apart). both guys had 0 offence in the previous year (narrowly missed being their draft year) and then went 58 in 66 (Oilers first rounder) and 49/64 (Flames 5th rounder)

both are big. Oilers guy had more goals though- I get it I'm sure Oilers guy is better player, but this level of production for round 5 seems in scope?

This feels like a Hunter Smith kind of pick.
At least it's 101 picks lower than the pick we used on Smith, so if he fails to turn into something, it stings a lot less

He's not as big as Smith so I think that's a positive.

His draft year production/size is actually similar to Ruzicka.

Let's hope he follows a similar trajectory then!

big and a good skater - sounds like a good toolset for the 155th pick to me.

Another LHS forward. Just what the Flames need in the pipeline.

well, apparently all the ones we currently have want to leave, so it seems like a good plan to me

Don't think you want to draft guys just because they're right shots either.

Reading up on Bell I don't have high hopes, but late rounds are always a crap shoot. It goes without saying he will need better production next season to prove he was worth the pick.

If you don’t like the pick, who would you take instead.

Looking at the picks who have been made since there’s not a lot of big names left. I like Kudryatsev for the nucks, he looked good while watching Kerins highlights.

Surprised Ryan Francis hasn’t been re-picked.
