At 21, most players aren't even in the league by then.
I think Dach eventually ends up being a steady 50ish point center who isn't a black hole in his own zone. His consistency isn't where it needs to be but that is to be expected. He also allmostlost almost a full year to injury

I am not sure I like this single-mindedness. Surely with the staff CGY has, they can work on contracts and the trade market at the same time. I hope BT's comments to the contrary were just bunk. If Johnny's camp isn't talking what the hell are we doing that is consuming so much time?
This team is a contender and needs to add/tweak. With Sutter coaching, they will still be a contender even if 13 leaves (if 19 gets a QO Flames don't have to be in any rush to move him - and he would be motivated by upcoming UFA status next year).
There are trades to be made (we are too strong on wing and need a C and a stud D).
Come on BT, make some trades!!!

I don't know if the solution is making trades (although I love trades).
However, I do agree with you. One player shouldn't define the entire off-season.
There is lots of other business to get done so I am hoping the Flames aren't left in a really crappy situation because they put all their effort into re-signing one player who eventually ends up leaving.

Sounds like Backlund - or potentially a bit better with his size. Who wouldn't want that, and especially at such a good price.
