I think that's a big reach. The kid has produced pretty well at times and played through some tough circumstances in Chicago. He's got the makings of a pretty decent 6/7 forward who can play the PP on a decent team and seems to be pretty underrated considering.

Maybe skating isn't his strength, but if players like Toffoli and Lucic can hang around on this team, there isn't much concern here. I'd definitely take his passing skills to get the puck to players like Mangiapane, Dube and Coleman, something that they have been lacking at 5-5 down the lineup.

Yea if people think Seanahan or Tkachuk are slow, Strome is on a whole other level.

He’s like a budget Monahan but without the scoring prowess.

If gaudreau walks and tanev is out till Jan, they may be bad without rebuilding.

Do something, my heart can't take this...

I thought the Tanev timelines were 4-6 months.

4 months would be October 1st, 6 months would be December 1st.

I guess that could stretch to January, and he will probably miss the start of the season for sure, but saying January seems like a bit of an exaggeration.

You know...that's generally how it goes though.

Teams rarely choose to "re-build" at the very beginning of it. You kind of just end up sucking one day (generally a combination of injuries, players getting old, and players leaving through UFA) and get forced into it. Tampa, Colorado, and Montreal with the 1st this year are all example of that.

Things just keep lining up for a rebuild or at least a 1 year tank to get a pick to replace Johnny

If Tkachuk gets traded we will be in the mix for Bedard

The goalie market seems pretty intense this year too with lots of teams getting poor goaltending last year, and not much available for UFAs.

If Johnny walks and you go into a re-build then I think you'd get a big return on Markstrom too.

Holy !@#$ this would be a big trade. There was a rumour earlier today that Calgary (and a few others) were in talks with NYI.
