I'll definitely replace mine with battery the next time I need one, but I'm not sure it makes environmental sense to throw out a perfectly good mower. If I used it every day, then ya, but the emmisions to make and ship a new one, and dispose of the old one must be far higher than the once a week use it gets for a few months.

I'm still hoping to xeroscape my front yard. Anybody know of any companies specializing in this?

I mean I get remarking on something that's delicious when it is. You want to acknowledge when a dish is well done/prepared. But I don't linger, dwell on and analyze it, deconstruct it in my mind later and have dreams about it. It's just food. It goes in the mouth hole, you absorb the nutrients, and you expel it in the crapper. The pleasure part of eating tasty food is just a fleeting sensation.
Now I get that its also a passion for some. And I can respect the concept of something exciting you and wanting to gush about said thing. I do the same. But in a RL discussion, food just isn't a very interesting topic to me, beyond 2-3 minutes of exchanging a recommendation. It can only go so many places and there isn't much controversy or greater meaning to it unless you're two hard-core foodies with differing opinions in a clash.
Like there are only so many times/ways you can tell me that something is delicious and make yummy faces and rub your tummy before I get bored with what you're saying and begin to drift off into the nethers of literally anything else. Great, it's tasty, I believe you. What else? Whats going on in your life?
My friend and his family can (and have) go an entire dinner gathering talking ONLY about FOOD. it's just bananas to me. I left the first time aghast that we didn't touch on a single other topic.
And I actually hate talking about food whilst eating a big meal too. If it's something that clashes with what I'm eating, it can make me feel ill. Or it just serves to make you more hungry for more and then you over-eat.
A small gear grinder but one, nevertheless.

I feel you on this one. I find the topic of food to be pretty boring in general. I’m a utility eater as well. I have tastebuds and enjoy a good meal but it’s forgotten in about 3 mins after I’m done.
I despise food pictures on Instagram, it’s an instant unfollow for me.

I used my MIL's electric mower over the weekend. I was impressed with how well it did. The electric trimmer on the other hand, what a POS.
I'll miss the charm of hearing a gas mower in the evening but think I'll be buying an elec one in the future.

I have a Makita electric trimmer that uses my batteries for my drills and stuff. Bought it off a guy on Kijiji. It's pretty awesome.

Thats funny, I thought a battery-powered mower would be awesome, and I basically considered it a done deal once this mower was dead.
Then my new neighbour moved in last month with a battery-powered mower.
And I dont know if our grass is just too thick, or his mower is just crap but it doesnt make it through. It took him 3 attempts to mow his yard until he just borrowed mine.
So I'll be sticking to recycled dinosaurs for the time being.

I have an 18 year old weed whacker and dull push mower that I make the boy use purely for my amusement.

Ask him if he forgot to put the blade in. My electric can tear through thick foot tall wet grass no problem. 8 years in with it and have never sharpened the blade either.

Oh man, I took a grinder to my blade for the first time in like five years last week to sharpen it up. What a fataing difference.

I use an old plug in trimmer...it's at least 30 years old. I keep hoping for it to die so I can replace it with a battery one, but it appears to be un-killable. I don't use it that often, so the cord isn't that inconvenient.

Yep, I don't even use a full five gallons to mow for the entire season. I'm not replacing mine until it dies.

Agreed. No more bull whipping an electric cord over and over and over. It's awesome.
I've used push mowers, gas, cord... hands down this is the best one I've ever used. It also helps that I got a nearly brand new Makita mower for almost half off because it basically was missing a $10 safety key that was hell to source due to supply disruptions. I basically got the mower free because that's essentially the price of the batteries and charging system alone.

Lol...I have to laugh at people who I now dub 'Homers.'
People who adamantly want to work from home as much as possible, but dont want to acknowledge the realities that comes with that.
For instance, I said I'd get back to a client tomorrow and he says:
"Oh? You dont have tomorrow off? Um...I probably dont get tomorrow off either. We usually get Parade Day off but I'm scheduled to work tomorrow."
Well...yeah. Many office workers would get Parade Day off because getting in and out of Downtown on Parade Day is a nightmare and lots of people are off...but when you're working in a basement in Bonavista its just...Friday.

I've always only gotten a half day for the stampede parade and it was to attend it, had nothing to do with commuting to the core on parade day - most of the places that gave the half day weren't even located downtown

Was it green bin day?
With all the rain I cut mine to 5 on Tuesday before green bin day and then today to proper length

Credit cards are at least as bad. I had a purchase declined so had to call the company to get it go through. I called the number on my card, waited on hold for an hour only to get told that person can't help me and needs to transfer me to another department, leaving me on hold for another hour and a half. Same thing happened to my wife with a different company, she was on hold for an hour, transferred to another department and left on hold for over 2 hours.

What kind of card? Fee based cards I find the "concierge" is fast and effective. No fee cards are like this. It's almost like you get what you pay for.
