No. This attitude is the problem. We're not deficient because we don't like dogs. It's perfectly reasonable to not like dogs. Unfortunately, too many dog owners impose their interest in dogs onto people.

I would assume that if you “have” to go to these peoples homes a few times a year they would know you well enough to know how dog phobic you are. Why not just say I don’t like dogs I’m not coming?
I’m kinda baked, so this may not make sense…

The problem is ignorance from non owners.
Dogs can be trained not to do their business in the house. I have yet to have any friends say that thier dog urinated in the house or pinched a loaf on the floor or carpet.
Very few people take thier dogs to the pub, the football stadium, the bank, the doctors office, the drug store etc.
A well groomed dog is not going to leave dog hairs everywhere.
Responsible owners keep their dogs on a leash.
A well trained dog is a great companion.

Dogs are nice but they're not as amazing as people make them out to be. When I dogsat the cuteness did wear out its welcome pretty quickly. There was a comraderie that formed over the duration in part because of its vulnerability and dependence for its needs but I couldn't keep up with it and felt it would have a better time with someone who cared more.
For some people it is an real interest of theirs and that's fine but don't assume everybody should by default feel the same way. Every one is different. And its not weird to not be enamored with every dog.
It's also odd to me when owners talk to their dogs like little kids and they'll pass by you and other people and the only "person" they appear to be aware of in the vicinity is the dog. Your dog probably tuned you out a long time ago when it found something neat to smell and doesnt give a #### what you're saying. Try being sociable with other humans.

Don't blame the dogs. Go after the owners who do a poor job of grooming their dogs.

Still, I don't need to hear your dogs name 76 times in different tones. Just let it enjoy its time outside, and maybe say hello to the people around you instead of being completely zoned in on the dog at all times. Maybe its a way for some to get around being socially anxious by talking to your pet instead but it comes across like antisocial behaviour.

Typically I'll bring my dog into the grocery store with me, he enjoys running errands with me, especially as my partner works weekends (healthcare worker; thank her for her service). Nice to be out and about. Usually I'll carry him around or even put him in the cart. He is a cutie patootie so always gets positive reactions and looks. At first I was apprehensive about doing this, especially in the produce section but no one minds and even the workers give him a pet as they put the various fruits away. I'll try to keep him away from sniffing anything but he's such a silly dog! lol
Anyway I'm rambling; shoutout to the Bonavista Shopping Plaza Safeway, they're always super nice and accommodating!

I have a dog and I like him. He's alright.
I'm told he's not the greatest dog in the world, he's just a tribute. Alright?

People are ####ing nuts. What kind of entitled loser can’t leave the house to do daily tasks without bringing their dog. Get a real friend or learn to do basic human functions alone.
Not to mention the dog people who ignore all rules because their dogs are special and don’t have to follow bylaws.
|
The whole pushing dogs around in baby carriages is nuts. The first couple of times I saw it, it was kind of cute, but now it's just weird.
Dogs in public is kind of like smoking in public to me now. If you like dogs and want to have one, that's fine. No judgement from me. I get that they are kind of funny. But please don't impose it on others who share the same public spaces as you.

They walk in piss-soaked properties then walk in your house and on your furniture. They waft their anus scent everywhere they go. They drool and slobber on stuff. They get progressively less clean every second of every day between baths that you have to give them and nobody baths their dog as often as necessary for it to be clean, which I would peg at once a day if not more often than that.
So, no, it isn't in my head that they're dirty animals. It's an indisputable and objective fact.

A couple weeks ago you said you saw a waitress pet a dog on a patio, and then later serve plates of food to people on the patio. You were so disgusted you got up and left. Did everyone else on the patio get up and leave? Has anyone else ever left a Calgary patio in disgust because they saw a waitress pet a dog? I doubt it.

Yeah but we're talking to a guy that gets naked at the front door with his entire family if they go over to a gross persons house, then blames that on the dog

I can't be the only one who would do this. Like, these people have multiple dogs. We're all covered head to toe in dog fur. It's all over our socks. None of us want to track that into our living space. For real, nobody else would wash their clothes and immediately have a shower after that situation?

I would think so. We hadn't ordered yet, but I wouldn't have left if we had. I would have just tolerated it. The dog was also barking, which was the larger transgression and was totally fataing annoying. The dog owner should have been asked to leave since they were too moronic to figure that out on their own.

You just have that unique Sliver way of describing it that's all I'm poking fun at. Would I go change? Sure. But I'm not stripping down together with the kids in the front room haha
I'm certainly partially with you here, I'm glad I have a dog that doesn't shed, I can't stand people that think they need to take their dog everywhere

The only thing sadder than the sandwich people are the poo people. You know, the poo people - adults who sleep alone every night but every day you see 'em walking their three-pound dogs. If it were a fish you'd throw it back, but they love it and they walk it. They walk it with little plastic bags on their hands, waiting for their little three-pounder to have his poop. And when he does, they pick it up and feel that heat in their hand, as if to say themselves "I am alive!"
