Going 15 over (Assuming highway driving) is predictable because most people do it - Assuming they arent passing on the right which causes the most issues of anything for predictability

Most people don’t drive 15 over. This is another myth that everybody speeds.
The 85th percentile speed on the number 2 is not 125 let alone the 50th percentile speed.
Beyond that the speed limit shouldn’t be set at the 85th percentile speed if that speed is above the design speed of the highway.

My parents went out to dinner on Tuesday to celebrate their anniversary. They were seated near a large group that was loud and annoying.
I won’t name the restaurant because it’s not their fault, but it’s a nice one and they enjoyed the food, but #### those #######s for putting a damper on their celebration.

I like my motorbike because I just pass vehicles. Don’t think about, it’s not some sort of aggressive act, it’s not testing some angry MFer in their ram, not a personal attack on the boyz in the bimmer. Just y’all keep driving like the goofballs always do, imma do my thing and enjoy the trip.

Assuming highway driving, if someone can pass you on the right at 130 when you are going 120 in the left lane, then the right lane was open and the guy doing 120 should have moved to the right lane. He wasn't actively passing anyone.

On one hand I sympathize but loud and annoying to others is a byproduct of large groups of people and they have as much a right to enjoy themselves at the establishment as your parents. The solution would have been asking to move to a table further away.

Again. You just blatantly made up a situation, attributed it to me, then har harred.

I drive 135-140 on the highway. I will occasionally have someone come up on me at 150, be right on my tail as I am passing a large truck, and immediately swerve into the right lane as I get pass the truck and pass on my right
I usually can predict when someone will do this and am ready, but the amount of times I see someone start getting back into right lane and almost collide with the impatient "passer" is at least 5 times on a 3 hr trip.

The point I am trying to make is that driving faster then the general traffic is so much easier than driving when others are going faster than you. The extra 10 or 15 kph gives the impression that the others are standing still while you blithely weave around them. This encourages faster driving regardless of the posted limit.
That guy whipping around before you can change back to the right lane is having fun for sure

I guess I just disagree that 15 under is more dangerous than 15 over. Logically, probably not, and in practice there are countless instances where that is obviously wrong. As long as you act predictably, 15 under is probably safer than 15 over in almost every case.
|
I think that depends. During non rush hour times, I'd argue that Person A going 85km/hr on Deerfoot is more of a danger to the people around them than Person B 115km/hr. Everyone going normal speed limit all of a sudden has to go slower because they're coming up to Person A, and guys who normally keep a 100km/hr speed limit now need to also cut over, when they normally would continue on the right lane.

These are some of the worst people on earth. It's super dangerous. I don't mean passing on the right if you are forced to by a left lane dummy, it's when you are passing, give someone space so you don't shatter their windscreen, have a signal on, and the ###### sponge behind uses that space for their own amusement? No, #### them.

I've brought this up before in this thread and gotten jumped on for it, but that's why in places with really bad traffic, to try and smooth things out it's illegal to pass people on the inside like that

It's so funny that we treat people like people, but as soon as they step into their vehicles they're filthy savages and our mortal enemies, depending on their driving style.
Nope, still a person, just operating a car.
When you think of how lucky we are to even have these things to take us from a to b in such a short time frame, you realize then how ridiculous it is to pick fueds with other operators (sometimes even a nervous mom just getting her kids to school) that put both your lives in danger just because they drive a different way (e.g. 5km slower than you would) or "did something" they may not have even been aware that they did.
That we're so touchy and defensive on the road vs off of it seems like an irrational human problem that probably needs to be addressed by the individual. Also the inherent need for some to drive as fast as possible on any stretch of road. Might be worth sorting out.

If someone is using their vehicle as a weapon, then ya, sure. Drive like an a-hole, I'm going to call you an a-hole.

If someone is going to use it as a weapon it might be in your best interest to just disengage, given the danger of that situation?
The need to "prove" things and be the rule/moral police out there is what turns things nuclear.
What do you win at the end of the day.. #### all. The real victory is coming away with your life, and a cool head. They're most certainly not going to change their ways because some guy managed to weave in front of them and pump their brakes to "show" them. It just pisses both of you off to no end.
If they're truly being reckless that's probably something best left for the cops to deal with.

Yeah, I hate that. I set my cruise at 120 on the QE2, which means I'm mostly in the right lane but sometimes in the left to pass. Someone swerving behind to the right happened before I could safely move back over (when I had my right signal light on) happened twice yesterday.
But the real crazy one was when I was passing a wide load. I'm doing 120 in the left lane, hugging the left line because I'm passing a truck moving a building, which is going 80 in the right lane/shoulder.
Guy doing at least 140 passes BETWEEN us on the two lane road, straddling the right/left lanes. Couldn't have been more than 6 inches between my mirror and his.
No points for guessing what type of vehicle he was driving.

Well jumped into a new job and my new boss is a ####ing Bosszilla. I've accumulated so much stress in the past three months - on top of all that pandemic burnout - I am considering doing something I have never done before, which is listen to my instincts and jump ship fast.

What do you mean "disengage"? This isn't a 10 minute road fight, it's a split second of an ####### moving over at the same time you are about to. I mean, obviously ya, I don't keep going or I'd be in an accident. But no one has a right to threaten my life with their vehicle because they can't follow basic rules of the road.
