Rempel is no big loss - it's probably a good thing she's bowing out.
UCP needs to move past the drama and bring in someone boring who can simply provide steady leadership.

Yup, you nailed it - conservatives are racists. Don't forget they're all white. And usually uneducated.

Being a conservative doesn't make you a racist, but it is hard to deny that most racists are conservative.

TheIronMaiden,
Unfortunately you're right. There's lots of racist liberals they just approach it differently than the conservatives, usually. With a bit more tact, but they exist too.
Having returned to this board after about a 3 year hiatus, I wonder if I should have bothered. Its the same posters bashing conservatives regardless of what they've said. The hockey forum is a bit better but its really tense in there too, lots of anger.
Michelle Rempel could save a drowning child and she'd be blamed by some posters for doing something wrong. Its pathetic.
Michelle Rempel said some very important things in her post. She was thoughtful and honest, whether one agrees with her or not.
Note Raj Sherman is trying to get the same exemption Michelle Rempel was given. Given his history in the province, I think he should be given a chance. While he wouldn't sit well with those "racist conservatives" (which clearly exist), he has been a champion for values I find quite consistent with my own. I have no intention of buying a membership to vote in the election, but if I did, I'd give him consideration. Might not vote for him, but I would like to hear on how he would approach health care. Would he just spend money or does he have other ideas? Its a huge issue.

I just try to ignore the high volume of low quality posts from those who are not interested in engaging in a discussion and focus on posters who I find intelligent and insightful.

I like MRG but just could see a Rempel leadership ending up similar to Kenney and Prentice - federal politician who doesn't really live in Alberta and has limited leadership experience swooping in to save the day and then completely mismanaging everything. Perhaps an unfounded concern.
Sherman is an interesting cat - I'd like to see him in the race as well.
Leela Aheer is great so I hope she can gain some traction. Toews also seems like a reasonable guy - maybe he can be an Albertan Brad Wall.

Yup. And you voted for this guy right?
The same guy who used Covid money to enrich is family?
The same guy who groped a women?
Take your deplorable BS and shove it up your ass.
I am tired of the double standard here. You and many others on this board have a double standard and need to be held to account.

There’s a difference between saying a party is courting the votes of racist people and saying everybody who votes for that party is a racist.
Just like there’s a difference between being racist and not being aware (whether it be through ignorance or a lack of understanding) that something you are doing is considered to be both offensive and racist.
This isn’t meant to defend or attack any political party or politician, but unless you are Michelle Remple I just don’t understand what in MarchHare’s post you could have possibly took so personally that you had to respond by calling him deplorable and telling him to shove things up his…well let’s just say you told him to shove things somewhere.

Not to pile on, but didn't you vote for a guy who:
- helped block gay men from visiting their partners dying from AIDS
- advocated to block LGBTQ civil rights
- voted against same-sex marriage in 2005
- voted against protections for gender identity and expression
- was against confidentiality protections for LGBTQ students in GSAs
- was under investigation for election fraud
- said UCP members were allowed to share white supremacist views so long as they weren't members of a hate organization.
All because you thought you might save a buck in taxes?
Excuse me if I find the crying about a double standard a bit toothless when you're criticizing someone who voted for guy with "wore blackface" on his record while you happily voted for guy with "actively used political power to make life worse for LGBTQ people" on theirs.
Go back to complaining about how much they ask for in property tax from your 6 figure salary for your 7 figure home some more. At least it's entertaining.

The problem with Trudeau has always been :
He says that he is a champion of women, and then behaves as a misogynist.
He says that he is a champion of the indigenous people, and then ignores them or treats them as children.
He says that he is anti-racism, but displays racism (at home and abroad!).
He is a fraud.
It looks like PP might be willing to race him to the deplorable finish line, that's exactly what the voters seem to react positively toward when they head to the voting station.
It's no different at the provincial level. It's getting to the point where the municipal level is becoming just as hateful. It's what people like.

Many of the people I love and admire are life time conservatives voters.
Are you suggesting that I should hate everyone I disagree with, or like everyone my politics lines up with?
