Yeah, a couple times I think. My favourite part of that show was Raine Maida wanted someone in the crowd to film a new song they were playing for the first time live and "put it on the internet". He spent like 3 minutes asking the crowd who had a phone that would record, and it wasn't going well. It's hilarious looking back as now artists will do anything to have fans put their phones away and experience the show first hand.

2006 was right on the cusp where everyone had phones but most were **** for the camera. "Okay, someone has to record this. Anyone?!?!".

Fun fact this is the song they were trying to get someone to film. It was also hilarious that OLP was still so big that Raine kind of brushed the show off as a "couple hundred people" while talking to the crowd, when the Coke Stage had 5k crammed in most nights and likely a thousand or two more that night as you couldn't move anywhere.

Sum 41 was coming off their Chuck album and arguably too big for the Coke Stage. It showed in the crowd and they made a statement that they wouldn't book major punk/rock bands anymore.
Between the new (temporary?) location and booking Alexisonfire it would appear they’re at least testing the waters for rowdier rock/punk during Stampede again.

Compared to the previous location the village is a world away from the Erlton station, yeah the crowds going to the coke stage and families going to the midway will still intermingle, but you won’t be paying your gate admission while some spiky haired youths are screaming at your family to get those middle fingers in the air!

As much as I loved the old coke stage and saw many memorable shows there, having a rock concert within 200 feet of a main entry gate was less than ideal.

Also, it looks like our Saddledome line up that used to have 3-5 big concerts during Stampede is just Blake Shelton this year?

Roadhouse does have one ticketed event, the Steve Earl (plus 4 other bands) show on the 1st Sunday. Everything else is included in park admission.

You sent me down a YouTube rabbit hole, finding other videos of that night. I was about as far away from the stage as this person was, but on the opposite side:

Oh you were probably right beside us then, haha. Were you close to the light pole that the guy climbed up and then slid down?

Nope, no Chris or Andrew in our group lol. But still pretty cool to look back at something from like 15 years ago and realize you probably standing right next to someone else in the thread, haha.

Sounds like it will be at the former Indian Village site, which honestly is a good spot for it.
Coke Stage will be at the south end of the park, but north of the river...area that formerly held the Bid Big Rig beer garden.

I'm 44 years old and I have heard of Carly Rae Jepsen but not Alessia Cara. It shouldn't be surprising people my age or older don't know these people.

Some people here still rock a solid collection of Benny Goodman, Perry Como, Bing Crosby, Tommy Dorsey, Hank Williams and Billy Holiday.

It goes both ways. Yesterday at work one of our younger (30 ish) guys had no idea who Axel Rose is.

Is it that surprising? It’s not like guns n roses is music that appeals to anyone who didn’t grow up with it really. Which is basically any music of a different time.
