Yeah but didnt the Actor who played him in TPM get cancelled for being a crazy person or something?
I'll admit I dont keep up on the day-to-day events in the life of Ray Park.
My love for the character arc does not extend to the actors/voice actors who play them. I try to stay out of what these people do in their day to day lives.
I dont get that though, if it was just voice work...just get Hamill to do it. He obviously consented and....was he credited?
But yeah, if you're going to want to synth these guys' voices and have their permission, get 'em in a sound booth and get 'er done.
I'm guessing it's quite a bit harder to manipulate an old voice into making it sound like his younger self than it is to just run an AI on audio from the time when his voice sounded that way.
Our voices change a lot as we age. Hamill's especially has become quite different, I think from years of the Joker.
Looked and felt like it ate most of the budget and was the closest to an episode III epilogue. The fight had me jumping off my couch. And really well timed appearances.
Reva's entire arc was made disposable though. Such a forced, disneyfied character plot. Which was disappointing after episode 5 when she finally got interesting. "You get to choose who you want to be now" ...eyeroll... Stop Disney, just stop.
Should've cut out the Reva nonsense and had it as episodes 1, 3 and 6 with strictly Obi Wan/Vader stuff.
Lucas wasn't perfect but he wouldn't have had that garbage in any live action series.
They plugged some holes with ANH, but added a new one with Luke seeing what he did.

Yup, I'm going to be lacking some sleep tomorrow. But I really am happy that I stayed up to watch the finale, and loved it.
Spoiler!
Beru and Owen have some sand, as they went guns against Reva to protect Luke. It gives you a different perspective on why Owen fought so hard in ANH to keep Luke on the farm. The small reconcilliation at the end between Owen and Obi was nicely done and opens the way up for Obi-Wan to go on further adventures as he left the protection of Luke in his parents hands.
Vader was a ball of fury in this second duel, but Obi-Wan had regained his connection in the force. After Vader beat down and buried Obi in the sand. Obi found his resolve in his memories and came back and beat down Vader pretty hard. The scene with the Rocks was awesome.
We also saw a conversation between Anakin and Obi-Wan, where Anakin realized to himself that Anakin was dead and he was Vader. As he said to Ashoka in Rebels. Anakin was weak and I killed him. He told Kenobi that he didn't kill Anakin, Vader did. But we saw Obi's pure resolve and mastery of the Force. But more on that a bit later.
We got resolution with Reva and I kind of liked it. In her hunt and thirst for justice or revenge, she chased Luke into the dune sea. But just as she was going to kill the boy. She had flashback to Vader storming the Jedi Temple and slaughtering younglings, and realized that she was becoming like him. In the end she laid down her sword and that was it.
We saw one last heart felt conversation between Obi and Leia. I loved Vivian Lyra Blair's portrayal of young Leia, she even had her facial expressions down, and there was a nice easter egg in their farewell, as they repeated the dialogue of young Anakin leaving his mother and asking if he would see her again, and his mother replied with
Quote:
Anakin: Will I ever see you again? Shmi Skywalker: What does your heart tell you? Anakin: I hope so. Yes... I guess.
The brilliance though was in the wrap up. I literally fist pumped at the conversation between the always awesome Ian McDarmid who after hearing Vader talking about the chase for Kenobi mused that his focus and thoughts on Kenobi made him weaker. Vader then dedicated himself to serving his new master. This will lead to the much colder Vader from the OT.
We also had a nice cameo by Liam Neeson who finally appeared to Obi-Wan as Obi-Wan could finally see him.
We also saw where Obi gets his viewpoint on Vader being more machine then man twisted and evil, as he realized in a moment that reminds us of the later similar moment with Ashoka when she breaks his helmet like Obi-Wan did tonight, that his friend was truly gone at this point. The smirk that you see from Hayden was perfect.
Like I said, the epilogue sets things up for more seasons if they want to do it. Obi-Wan at this point is unencumbered from Luke as Beru and Owen are capable guardians. Vader is going to be more focused on serving his master . . . for now. So if they do a future season, if their crosses pass its not because Vader is hunting Obi-Wan, but because Obi-Wan is doing something against the Empire.
I loved this season, its a shame that its over now. But I'm hoping to see more of Vader and more of Ewan as Obi-Wan, he's so brilliant.
Now we have to wait for Andor, the Bad Batch and the next season of the Mandalorian, all later this year.

I loved the Vader Obi-Wan stuff, its weird because I flash back to a lot of Clone Wars stuff. When Vader buried Obi, I flashed back to the episode when Ashoka and Bariss get buried under a bunch of rocks, and Anakin is told to let her go and he refuses to. Again the end dialogue between Obi and Leia mirrors the Phantom Menace dialogue between Anakin and his mother.
Also the conversation between the Grand Inquisitor and Vader, where the Inquisitor made the point that the refugees were the mission, and Vader ignored him to gain his revenge on Obi, was very much like Anakin's obsession with Dooku in TCW series.
But in the end I didn't mind the Reva stuff to much and in the end, while Obi knew that he couldn't redeem Vader. That he had a bit of a hand redeeming her.

I too really liked with exchange with the inquisitor and vader.
Emphasized his lust for revenge.
I was legitimately thrilled at moments in this episode and that's all I asked for of this series. They really could've just cut out all the fat and focused on the two characters we came to watch over 3-4 episodes. And people would've walked away more satisfied despite a shorter series because it didn't waste time with silly side plots.
I think any SW fan will have a tough time not getting emotional with this finale though.
Also, Obi-Wan addressing Darth when he left Anakin, closed up a nearly 50 year old complaint of why Obi called his old Padawan Darth at the start of their duel in ANH

It's skirting canon, but from what was shown on-screen, Luke didn't actually see it.
Luke was in the room hiding, and when Reva burst through the door, Luke was already facing away, climbing out through the window. Reva didn't have her lightsaber ignited during her pursuit in the desert, and she only turned it on after Luke was unconscious.

I really enjoyed the finale. Ties everything well to a New Hope and still keeps a window of opportunity open for something more. But I’d be fine if that’s all that we got from this series. It was great seeing Ewan as Obi Wan again and Hayden as Anakin/Vader
So awesome. That Vader/Obi-Wan duel should have been in a different version of Episode 3 where those movies were better. It did beg the question as to why Obi Wan wouldn’t have killed Vader at that point.
Either way loved it. Maybe the best lightsaber duel in canon now. Very similar to the Ashoka duel. Him screaming “Obi-Wan!” Through his robotic twisted voice. So great.
