The Flames didn't get A list goaltending, like they've been used to all season. But then again, neither did the Avs, but they limited the net front and high slot chances as well as odd man rushes. The Flames don't win with merely "good" goaltending. With the Flames' skaters playing like they did, they would have had to "goalie" the Oilers.

I didn't say it was all him but they didn't get enough saves, it's pretty obvious IMO. 4 of 5 games were tied in the third period...good goaltending would have been enough.

Thing is - if you have a bona fide top end 1D, but lack a scoring LW, you are in better shape than the opposite, because those kind of 1D's are still rarer. And wouldn't you be trying to acquire the LW but retaining the 1D? Otherwise you are just spinning your wheels.

I mean St. Louis, the obvious destination, would want Tkachuk. But their best Ds are not world beaters, and all have full NTCs.

If we're talking the Makars, Heiskenans, Hedmans, Foxes. No one is trading those. Ever.

Your definition of "good goaltending" is "makes a near-miraculous save" and ignores the actual great saves in favour of ones which were not made. I say the Flames checking game crumbled in tight games unlike the rest of the year, and the first round.

in 12 playoff games he made 1, maybe 2 great plays.

He constantly gave up odd man rushes and turned even man rushes into odd man rushes because of his poor positioning. Maybe a few fell on Rasmus but he looked like a scared rookie out there....

and irrational hate on Gio... look at his season... still ZERO playoff series wins in this career. lol and with him re-signing with the Leafs his career will end with 0 playoff series win.
