I must admit after taking my dog round a few parks this morning they do look absolutely terrible right now especially as not much in the way of cutting has been done and the parks are full of foot tall dandelions.

I bet the city would still give a ticket to a homeowner who tried that very same plan.

It’s just weird that so many mediocre places are advertising Hot Chicken all of a sudden like they invented it. I mean, Swiss Chalet? Don’t they realize their clientele loves boring, bland food?

I’m not much of a heat-seaker but half hot is tasty.

I saw a Swiss Chalet commercial a few weeks ago for their new hot chicken sandwich but it wasn't just any chicken sandwich it was an ice cream chicken sandwich. Who comes up with this stuff and more importantly what sort of monster would order such a disgusting thing.

Yeah I’m not sure why they’re so popular. The fast-foodish ones run from ok to mediocre, none of them terrible, none of them great. But if you’ve had Alumni and are looking for something to top it, might as well skip the lot.

Believe it or not, Dandelions aren't part of the weed control act or community standards bylaw

Accepting it and knowing you should change is good start. As with most things, I would just say don't let the small stuff bother you. Go to places with an open mind instead of sky high expectations i.e.: "having the time of my life" and just go to places to relax and get away from the rat race. Then you might actually have the time of your life. Ain't nothing wrong with just sitting by the lake crushing PBRs and doing nothing at all.

What type of trips are you doing that cause this? Maybe you just don't like traveling... Or you don't like some types of vacations.

I, for example, have found that I don't really care THAT much about sightseeing. I've seen a bunch of things that are "attractions", or important sites, that my reaction to was just, "huh, cool I guess". This indicates to me that this is not the best use of my vacation time. This was never more obvious than when I got to the grand canyon and realize that as impressive as the whole thing was, I just did not appreciate it more by being there in person. I'm better off booking vacations in order to do stuff than see stuff or simply be in important places, or alternatively, go somewhere just chill out and not do anything at all.

... Also, it probably doesn't help that we're like an hour from the Rockies and an hour flight from the west coast. Kind of hard for the "most beautiful places in the world" to top those spots.

I'm similar, travelling just doesn't scratch an itch for me at all. In a foreign city I'm happy to drive around randomly for a while then sit in a pub, doing tourist stuff bores the pants off me but I do it just for the sake of making the person I'm with happy.

I could just sit in a plaza with a good espresso and warm sun, and people watch all day. My wife has to drag us 40 miles uphill to see some 200,000 year old church.

The Nashville hot Chicken Sandwhich from Brewsters made me never want to try it again. It was terrible.

Speaking of which, Brewsters if kind of terrible. Nice patios but I am never even whelmed by their food. Also, their beer is bloating and always tastes a little off.

I’m surprised Brewsters is still a thing now that so many good microbreweries exist.

Albertans love stuff they are familiar with. Its the suburban aesthetic.

People look at me pityingly when I tell them I don't like to travel, but I hate it. What's so great about spending thousands of dollars to get up, take a big huge #### in some foreign country, flail around exhausted doing too much and eating expensive food, and have the whole experience bookended by god-awful trials and tribulations at an airport?

I think social media turned everyone into a traveller for the 'gram. It didn't used to be like this where you need to take a flight somewhere every year to a wacky place to show how interesting and neat you are.

That's why I love my RV. Everywhere we go I have all the comforts of home in my own little house I take with me. It's my favourite way to get around.

I find when I fly away somewhere I come home more stressed than when I left. I get absolutely no relaxation out of it. Maybe I'll want an adventure when I don't have so much work in my life, but right now I like chill time way more than I have any desire for an adventure.

I do hope when I'm older and retired I'll find the appeal. I have thought that maybe if I pit in somewhere and just live like a local for a few months I'd have more fun than rushing somewhere, running around like a lunatic, rushing home and then going into work on Monday and then get punished by playing catch-up for the next week and a half.

I know my wife would like to travel more. Luckily for me she travels for work enough that the appeal of air travel is not very enticing for her. Also, she has family in France, so she goes there with the kids and I just stay home and chill. She'd prefer if I were there, but again, it's more stress than it's worth for me and she understands that.

I think folks should travel enough to know if they're happy at home. Any time I go some place I can't help up think how much I love being in central Alberta.

The other thing is everything in my house and in my life is more comfortable than anywhere else. My bed is better. My car is better than a rental. I like my house more. My garage is fun. My neighbourhood is fun. Hanging out with my friends rules. The mountains by us are fun. There's all I need right here. Whenever and wherever I go it's worse than what I left. Plus, I never get to enjoy my cool #### because I work five days a week. I love time off and staying somewhat in our area because I can finally do all the crap I can't when I'm at work.

I can see why people wouldn't like to travel, but I love it. Yes, it can be uncomfortable, but I wouldn't trade those 4 hours in a microbus crippling my back on unpaved roads to watch the sun rise from the top of Mt Sinai for the world. So many experiences I really do value. It's OK to like different things though. Fewer tourists in my way.

I’ve been to enough tourist destinations to know I’m happier at home. I never need to see another beach in my life but there are places I’d like to go to experience the culture.

I’d like to make more trips to other cities just to see bands and comedians who don’t come here but health and personal issues make travel a problem for me. I do try to take advantage of what Alberta has to offer as often as I can though.

I guess I don't like the literal travel part.

But I love sightseeing and doing stuff, or just relaxing. I'd like to see the beaches of Tanzania, the temple in Cambodia, the Pyramids in Egypt, the Basilica in Rome and the Baobabs of Madagascar, etc etc etc.

But yeah getting there would be a pain.

I don't have the chip that can leave me in awe. Like, I know if I went to Egypt I'd be super annoyed by all the people trying to sell my dumb #### and I'd look at the pyramids and go, 'neat.'

Not saying that as a flex or anything...I'm envious of people that can really get into that stuff, but for me, seeing a documentary on places gives me my fill. I find the pyramids - as an example - super cool and fascinating, but zero part of me needs to see them in real life.
