Good to know. I’m going tomorrow, and was worried it would be too cheesy.

I enjoyed Top Gun as well. The aerial stunts and photography were amazing. The plot is a bit silly, but I thought it tied into the original movie nicely. Cruise's charisma is still off the charts and the guy knows how to deliver a rockin' good time at the cinema.

Spoiler!

Umm it was full on cheese.

This was the only scene from the 1st movie that wasn't in the 2nd.

The ending was too predictable. You could tell what was going to happen next before it happened.

Why are there three Fantastic Beasts movies? Do real human beings actually like them? Are they anyone’s favorite movie?

Insipid writing, boring cinematography, phoned-in performances, and effects that truly don’t hold a candle to the Harry Potter stage play.

Screw making three movies about Young Dumbledore starring Jude Law - turn him into a backbencher in favour of Newt Givesa####.

Yeah, surprised me. Everyone was great in it. Even if it was Rocky for basketball. It was a good watch.

Oh man that was soooo good. I remember taking a big gulp cup and filling it with nacho cheese, putting on a lid and putting a straw in it and paying 2 bucks for way more than I could ever use even with my huge bag of tostitos... but I sure tried.

For real. What a strange obscure character to center a movie saga around..

It doesn't even appear to center around the beasts which I thought was going to be the whole appeal to children. It just got bored with its own original thing and went into milking the udders of the HP franchise instead.

Yeah it's an ideal movie to watch while flying.

You know what children really want from their Harry Potter movies?

Hannibal Lecter slitting the throat of a cute baby deer like creature so he can see the future and thus kick off the plot of the film.

In a sane world, the plot of the movie would be “protect the magic seer deer”.

There wouldn’t be anything about Dumbledore making a Shakespearean death pact with Voldemort 1.0 because “they were in love”, because that’s a ####ing crackers thing to put in a movie who’s core appeal is cute, cuddly, kooky animals.

Last Night in Soho was a huge disappointment. So thoroughly underwhelming. It meandered, the resolution wasn’t satisfying, the supernatural elements weren’t explored or explained, the mystery fell flat and it didn’t really explore any of the characters.

I can’t think of another writer or director who I think is less talented, makes more mediocre movies and yet continues to have a cult following than Edgar Wright. It’s bewildering to me that he’s popular. Most writers or directors I’m not a fan of who are popular, I tend to respect their skill and recognize that maybe their movies just aren’t for me. But not Wright. I think he just isn’t very talented. It’s been all downhill since Shawn of the Dead.

I think his movies after Hot Fuzz have become progressively more underwritten.

But we live in a world now where precious few film makers have any discernible visual style, and even fewer make movies where we can see what the #### is happening.

Wright has a great feel for images, and he films action in a coherent fashion (mostly).

He’s an average writer.

Hustle felt like a spiritual sequel to Uncut Gems: it's long, slow and basically an excuse for Sandler to hang out with NBA players, but it ends up being a great watch. It's pretty rare that I'll sit and pay attention to every scene in a movie or TV show, but this one got me.
