Heard this was in the works a couple weeks ago and thought it was the perfect fit. I bet Flyers fans have wished their past coaches were more like Torts for a while. They’ll love him and the roster needs his style.

Makes sense. I think the success of sutter this year shows that the old school coach, with adjustments made given the current player culture, can be very effective.

Outside of sutter, torts is probably the best post game scrum coach out there. Can't wait to see him back behind an nhl bench, and at post game podium.

I remember one of the narratives of 2004 cup final being old school coaching vs. new school coaching. Sutter was deemed the old school coach.

Torts turns 64 in 8 days. Quenneville and Sutter are also the same age.

Doesn't sound like retirement is in the plans for any these guys, if the rumour about Q looking to return is true.

The coaching carousel continues and we're stuck with Darryl Sutter....

How good is it that the Oilers found "their guy" in Woodcroft?

There's a little silver lining for Flames fans in every positive for the Oilers.

Not too enthused by this move. Would have significantly preferred Trotz behind the bench in Philadelphia.

Agree with you 100%. Dubinsky is 36 years old, not 14. Time to start acting like an adult.

Guys. Dubinsky hasn't played in 3 years. He's retired.

In my heart he is still a player and is part of the deal that also saw Tim Erixon traded away from his beloved Rangers.
