Vladdy is in one of those grooves. Wow he's obliterating the ball right now.

Why the heck did they pitch to him?
That makes zero sense.
Home team needs just 1 run to win. Walk him and A) avoid Vladdy, and B) set up the DP.
That’s the dumbest thing I’ve seen

3 more balls over 114.8mph tonight for Vladdy. When he's on there's nothing in baseball like him.

The Gatorade dumping isn't the same when the one guy isn't sneaking up or the other guy is willingly accepting it and not trying to run away

Should of got the start in the 8th until he gave up a hit or walk, imo.

Watching on delay, but yeah...
1) terrible call pulling Berrios on 86 pitches. I understand the other guys need some work, but don't fix what ain't broken
2) why not walk Montcastle?
3) why the hell did they pitch to Vladdy? Brutal call
fun win (but shouldn't have been close)

I’m still trying to process them pitching to Vlad…Did they think Kirk would bunt and then it would only take a sac fly to win? Kirk was never going to be bunting there and, despite being really hot right now, he’s always a candidate for an easy double play.

It reminded me of Showalter using Ubaldo Jimenez

There is likely a stat somewhere that says that if you intentionally walk a guy, he is more likely to score than if you pitch to him. As a result, someone concluded that it doesn't make sense to intentionally walk a guy.
This is missing the forest for the trees, and it is SOP when people put too much value in a stat, and don't understand how to use them.
Obviously in last night's situation, Vladdy scoring is irrelevant, because they only need one run to win. So the above referenced (potential) stat has no relevance to this situation. Walking Vladdy has upside, due to the potential DP, and no downside. Just a stupid, stupid decision by the manager.

Might have been a day to bring a guy up from AAA (or whatever) to give them a taste of the bigs, and save Gausman for the Yankees (thus also keeping Kikuchi away from the Yankees)

You are taking the Os for granted. They can mash.
