These teams seem head and shoulders over the other teams. How the Flames realistically think they can beat one of these teams makes me really scratch my head as to why they don't do a real rebuild through the draft. Playoff revenue, even just a few games is such an addictive drug for owners.

Should the Panthers do a full rebuild? They scored 3 goals in the 2nd round against the Lightning.
This is the first time the Avs made it past round two

They clearly aren't though. It took Tampa 7 and a comeback to get out of round 1 and 6 to advance to the finals. Definitely not head and shoulders above other teams.

Controversial view(?): Makar is not that good at defense. I’ve been paying a lot of attention to what is said about this guy, esp as a generational type D. He has awesome offensive skills and instincts. A super Phil Housley. In his end, he looks lost, and soft some times. There’s no way he can reliably take away a top offensive player, as exhibited by McDavid’s evisceration of that team.
Anyways, he’s very young and obviously has tons of room to grow, and probably he will. Right now, he’s not really great at defense, which makes him far from the NHL’s best player.

McDavid got swept by Makar and the Avs

I'd argue they are. Vasilvesky wasn't doing well, and they were just moping around. But they put it together and when they're good, they're really good. Colorado specifically, Calgary can't hold a candle to IMO.
As for if Florida should rebuild - not the same situation. They're on the up and up, and not moping around. They've built from young with legit centrepieces. They're not far off. Can't tell me anymore Tkachuk or Gaudreau are the centrepieces to lead a team to a championship, despite the points they put up. We know the playoffs is different.

Maybe he's just a Karlsson 2.0.

McDavid beats lots of guys including solely defensive defencemen. Makar is in his 3rd season and when it counted, in game 4, for example, they shut McDavid down pretty well.
And who, according to you, is the best player? You’ve eliminated McDavid with your “not really great at defence” requirement.
