I heard of a few power outages just now. Maybe weather related?

Curious about rainfall totals since last night in the foothills.
Seemed to be raining more this morning than was forecasted, about as heavily as it was last night.
The precipitation coming down as snow in Highwood Valley and south kananaskis has to be good in regards to a flood threat, right?

I heard about construction of the temporary berm earlier this morning, and holy #### the water is quite a bit higher. You can see the westbound lanes have quite a lot of standing water on them already. Yikes...

The water levels in the bow are controlled upstream though. Hopefully they're letting more water through now so they have capacity to control the peak here and prevent significant damage.

Up she goes. Really short term it's good, but rain is in the forecast for the weekend, and if warmer rain hits it certainly won't help any.

On the radio I had heard 100mm in Kananaskis as of this morning.

Lol at more snowpack.
At this point I'm not sure if the trails along Smith-Dorrien will ever thaw out.

Forecast has about another 40 between now and tomorrow morning.
Those are some decent totals for a 48 hour span.

Looking down at the river from the office, it looks to be quite low compared to 2013.

Wind + soft ground made for a lot of trees being uprooted or branches broken

I joked with my wife that the militant antivaxxers/antimaskers would turn into antibermers. Later we walked down to see it in person, and there was someone on the street corner literally yelling loudly at the berm. Not a prediction I wanted to be right about.

The same people on reddit and twitter mad at the mayor for calling a state of emergency, claiming the city is just trying to rile up everyone's fears and keep them home again.
Can't fix stupid sadly.
Well, you can, but it isn't legal

Jesus Lord...at what point has your life come to in order to become an 'anti-bermer?'
Seriously. Get a hobby. And a Job. And then a life.

Did you ask you them if they are an anti-vaxxer? Is there a way to visually spot the anti-vaxxers out on the street? Is there an app for that?

Bear in mind this is the same mayor who, on day one, declared a “climate emergency”. It can be rather difficult to take anything she says seriously. Let’s hope there are no real emergencies with her at the helm.

Comparing her engagement levels in the meetings/updates today vs. Nenshi did not instill a lot of confidence. Lets hope things stay as they are right now and we dont have to find out either way what'd happen in an actual emergency situation.

I bet people in 2013 wished we overreacted like this.
I don't think that berm does much, but I don't mind us being more prepared than less.
