Koskinen isn't that bad, anyone in their right mind would have jumped at that contract. Hope he does well in Switzerland.

Really? No way man.
If I'm a soon-to-be washed up NHLer I'd totally go play in Switzerland.
Beautiful country, good pay, much easier play, fewer games, it sounds awesome!
Or...Edmonton.
Seems like a No Brainer to me.

Exactly.
It's not like Koskinen is some young up-and-comer looking to make his mark on the NHL. He will be 34-years-old in a month.

Seeing his body of work, it's a little surprising that he didn't want or didn't get an NHL level deal. Perhaps it makes more sense for him to go to Europe and live closer to home and a different lifestyle.
Take the Oiler's stint out, wouldn't a team like Edmonton benefit from his numbers for a $800k- 1 mil?
I am sure he is happy he got his money and is now moving on but it's interesting regardless.

He might get a NHL Training Camp PTO at best. Maybe one year contract at Minimum Salary.
Don't forget the guy is pretty traumatized by his Edmonton experience as well.

Yeah getting blamed left and right for goals against. Even when he didn’t play!

Leaving Edmonton was the right thing to do for Koskinen.

Who?
Edmonton is pretty capped out, and will most likely be forced to dumpster-dive for a replacement goalie. But I think they Oilers rather choose to promote poor Stuart Skinner, and will run him into the ground.

Maybe Rittich if he's desperate enough.

I saw the propaganda minister pumping the skinner tires earlier today on twitter. There’s the answer!

I hope not! I wouldn't wish Edmonton on any player.
As a former Prime Minister said once on a campaign stop: "It's not the end of the world but you can sure see it from there."

Who would sign with Edmonton? It’s a goalie graveyard. MAF? Unlikely, plus he’s at the end of his own rope at 37. Campbell? Francouz? Holtby?

Maybe Koskinen can share a Swiss brew with Gaetan Haas, who will be buying him a celebratory drink…Haas must still be giggling for getting a $212k bonus last year for finishing top 3 in Oilers plus minus, with a sparkling -1.

I'm sure he could have gotten an NHL offer but must have a bad taste in his mouth with this league if he didn't even want to test free agency.

He probably gave up on his career already
Even a minimum salary guy in Edmonton (NHL) probably makes twice as much as an average Swiss player
