I have no sympathy for High River.

If you live in a place called 'High River' you forfeit the right to complain when the river gets high. Thats just how it is.

I'm telling you, when that town was settled the Indigenous Tribes probably laughed their asses off when they saw all these stupid White Men building their cabins by the riverside.

"We move our Teepees when the water rises. Its quite convenient. These people are nuts."

Sooo... anyone got those hell or high water shirts from Stampede 2013?

EDIT: Apparently they're supposed to put out maps of properties that may experience flooding; anyone have those or are they not published yet?

Not raining anymore in the Beltline. I realize looking at the forecast more should be coming, but it's currently just overcast

surferguy will be fine, he'll just move the family onto his fleet of surf-boards and do a live-action re-enactment of 'Waterworld.'

Lash them all together and have his own floating Kingdom.

It raining here isn't the concern.

How much the foothills and mountains get is what is key here.

2013 there wasn't even a lot of rain in the city. The 300mm over 2 days was west of us.

I've been watching the regional, and it hasn't looked too bad. I know the mountains block the radar, but it's mostly greens moving that direction.

You can also just look at the rivers.alberta.ca site and see the flow levels at all the various monitoring stations in the mountains are all still fairly low. Slight uptick on a few, but nothing major....yet

That radar isn't showing what's truly there. Those pink areas disappearing all at the same spot are actually continuing on, but shielded by elevation and hills.

At the end of the animation, ya, but most of it before that was green or purple.

Given the abnormal nature of this system moving SE to NW, going to wait and see how it unfolds. It's outliers like this that produce the unusual water levels.

05 and 13 were in similar circumstances, but so far looks like we're not tracking for anywhere near that amount. But like others said we don't know exactly whats going on over those mountain ranges and there was still a ton of snowpack when I was out there.

The jump in water levels won't really be seen until tomorrow I'd reckon.

Because the elevation of that radar and the hills don't match and it's not going to show the true intensity. That radar has been calibrated for the specific hail mitigation area.

Here you can see the intensity continues as far as the radar can see it, all that rain is falling on the upward slopes right now.

WHERE ARE THE MAPS.

Seriously you can't declare an emergency, promise to tell everyone who is at highest risk and then just go silent for hours.
