#### Trouba and #### Fox. The rest of the Rangers are cool in my book. I figured it was gonna be Tampa vs the Avs this year. Should be a good cup final

The Lightning advance to the Stanley Cup Final for the fourth time in eight years.

And we thought Vegas' fanbase was spoiled. Must be nice to cheer for such a consistently elite team year after year. Never thought we'd ever see a real dynasty in the modern NHL, and yet here we are. I'm jealous.
Hopefully the Flames can eventually get there one day before I'm too old and senile to enjoy it.

Oh yeah, Tampa is a functional sunbelt team. If the others could be halfway competent and spend to the cap they'd be contending year in and year out as well.
The advantage with free agents and internal players willing to sign/re-sign is astronomical. All those markets need is committed ownership and good management and they'll be contending and winning cups every decade or so. Or in this case, going for three in a row.
Canadian team fans should be happy that most of the sunbelt teams are a mess ownership and management wise or we'd just be watching Arizona/Miami/Anaheim/LA/San Jose/Tampa in a revolving door of Cup wins.

This must be considered the greatest run ever. 11 straight series wins in this era. Even more so the the record 19 by the Islanders in the 80s.
In 11 series they only faced elimination 3 times. Game 7 last year against the Islanders and twice against Toronto this year. The Leafs really should have put the Bolts away in OT in game 6.

All those teams spend to the cap, unless they are at the start of a rebuild

Jon Cooper might be the best coach in the game right now. Tampa can somehow play multiple essentially flawless defensive games in a row while still being fast and creative in their scoring opportunities, and their mental resilience is fantastic. They play effectively perfect modern hockey,.
Cooper to me is the biggest reason for this dominance, him and Vasilevsky. Vasilevsky is the best goalie in the game, always at his best in big games.
Doesn't mean they're unbeatable... But I'm not sure Colorado has the goaltending to do it.

Ah, you're right! I even listened to Peter Maher tell that story on 960 before Game 1 of the Edmonton series.

Calgary kind of made their bed by blowing a 5-2 lead with 12 minutes left in game 6, with ST. Louis tying it and then winning in OT.

Won't be popular but it really speaks to how good of a team the Leafs are. They're really the only team to give Tampa a challenge and a legit scare.

They were mocked relentlessly for another first round exit, but I knew right away this was not that. They drew a team that was primed to go to the Stanley Cup finals and possibly win a Cup.
That was one of the most unlucky draws in recent playoff history for a top half playoff seeding.

They just seem to lose every time by some method - their fault, luck, whatever. It’s incredible.
