Kevin Roth was saying there would likely be an in game delay, but unlikely they would postpone.

That's two for Berrios. Of he can get a third I'll start to ease off the hate for a bit.

That's not really how I evaluate a starting pitching rotation. If you have a couple of guys putting up extremely good numbers, but the rest of the guys not performing up to expectation... you don't have nearly as good a situation as a simple blend of the numbers would suggest. The Jays right now have 2 guys with an ERA below 3... the rest are either struggling or can't stay healthy. The rotation is a mess compared to what it was expected to be.

4 of Berrios last 5 have been quality starts although he's thrown quite a few stinkers this year, hopefully he's coming around.

Kikuchi has the stuff to be one of the best lefties in the league but seems to get in his own head all the time.

Ryu I think is done. Really fell off last year and picked up this year right where he left off.

That's how most rotation's work lol

They are top heavy

Jays rotation is fine, especially if Berrios is starting to get back to his usual form.

Even Kikuchi was elite for the month of May with an ERA barely above 2.00

As a group they are top 5 in ERA/FIP/xFIP

That means they are one of the best rotations in the AL. End of story really.

I mean, I don't know what they were "expected to be" if being top 3 or 4 in the AL as a group is supposed to be considered "a mess".

Haha

I guess by that logic, the Jays had a very good rotation during the Halladay era because his god tier numbers made the whole rotation look good when everyone's numbers were blended together. "Haha"

I agree with you, but Tapia has been better at the plate the last few weeks.

Yeah Tapia's average is like .240 right now which is fine for a bench player who is good defensively.

He had a brief glimmer a few weeks ago but last week he slashed .133/.133/.200

Yeah Tapia has something like a 150 wRC+ since the start of June but Kirk is our best hitter this season, and our hottest hitter right now.

Sitting out today he will have not started 2 out of 3 games and there was also on off day in there too.

Seems pretty stupid to me, but maybe there is a good reason for it that we don't get to know about.

Yeah that's a ridiculous comparison.

The Jays have had 6 different pitchers start games for them this season and not a single one of them has a negative fWAR

As a group they have the 3rd best xFIP in the AL

You calling them "a mess" is hilariously inaccurate.

You can't seriously be saying Tapia is nearly as good as that group are you?

Well Hernandez struggled after his injury for a 2 weeks but since then has hit in 14 of the last 15 games. Jansen has been hitting well for a catcher battling injuries.

But let's look at WAR.

Guerrero .......: 1.2
Jansen............:0.9
Chapman........:0.7
Hernandez......: 0.2
Tapia .............:-0.9

Tapia is below replacement level, he should be playing every 3rd or 4th game.

Yeah, why are we using batting average to compare players?

It's not really a good measurement of overall offensive performance

Tapia isn't just the worst of our regulars offensively, he also has the worst defensive number of our regulars too.

Let sum Tapia up, doesn't hit for power, doesn't hit for average, doesn't walk a lot, doesn't field well.

In short, does not belong on a team that considers itself a contender.

I'm now fully prepared for Tapia to go 3/4 today with a HR and making a diving catch on a gapper in the outfield.

All that and he has more PA's than our best hitter this season (Kirk)

At least the Jays are winning I guess, I probably shouldn't complain too much. Just doesn't make much sense to me is all.
