A pp anchor would be huge but imo it might need to be a 2 way star. 25 mins a night player
I’m not saying just give up on our guys but if treliving is patient with what we have they need to grow soon or we won’t take the next step
Doubt we have the assets but I’d love to see chychyrun here. Pair him with tanev he could be that guy. Ask for him seems to be in Eichel territory but it might be the missing piece
Send kylington in the deal and his new deal would almost off set his. Zary? First next year? Still need to add so just don’t know if it is even an option

If Reaves is worth $1.75M, Lucic is easily worth that. Would consider extending him at $2M per.

Calgary added Coleman. Avs added Lehkonen.
Calgary found Kylington. Avs found Makar.
Calgary is Super Value Colorado.
I don't hate the Flames, but if you think the Flames top end talent is as top endy as the Avs top end talent, I disagree.

We were talking forwards, specifically. But what I was asking for was tangible evidence prior to this year that the Avs “superior” top end talent was going to take them far in the POs.
Answer - there is none because they never did. Never out of the second round. Until they finally broke through this year.
As for Makar, yeah they “found” him. 4th overall in the draft. Should have gone first.

I’ve read rumours Boston might be willing to move Pastrnak. If so, I’d like the flames to jump on that. 3 way seeing Pastrnak to Flames, 2nd overall to Boston. Tkachuk to Jersey. Would save the Flames cap space immediately, while giving them a chance to sign him next year, as Flames have some expiring contracts.
Gaudreau Lindholm Pastrnak is drool worthy for me.

Obviously, if by "evidence" all we can accept is playoff success itself, then, yeah, there was no evidence. If by evidence we can accept that MacKinnon went from showing flashes of brilliance to being basically a dominant force in the league, like, a top 5 player in the league kinda thing, and everyone saw it happen, and other players on that team grew and developed with it too.... then yeah, there's evidence.
And winning a division and having a bunch of shutouts would be evidence for an up-trending Flames team too, in that case. But a bunch of players managed sub-standard performances in the playoffs all the same, so I guess if the Flames go farther next year, then the evidence was there. If they don't, well... the evidence was there for that too.
If Lindholm takes another step as a centerman, if Tkachuk matures, if the D play with more confidence.... who knows, maybe it will all come together. But it looked like this was the year for that and the wheels fell off against a fast, high-powered offence, and that's a really tough thing to explain away except that Calgary isn't good enough. Not enough speed, not enough finish. Top to bottom.

I'll trade my $5 bill for his $10 bill then trade that $10 bill to someone else for a $20 bill!
I love Tkachuk but I think both Pasta and the 2nd overall pick have more value.

Tkachuk younger and just put up 100 points.
And has bite to him ala Marchand. That is someone you’d trade for to retool. I think Pastrnak for him (if both sign for like contracts with their new teams) are as even if a trade as you can get. I think Tkachuk may have a slight edge in value in that trade honestly because of age.

Apparently Boston might be willing to move on from Pastrnak due to his contract demands. He won’t suddenly become reasonable if traded to Calgary.
Pastrnak has also been a PPG player each of the last 4 seasons and essentially for his career.
Tkachuk has been a PPG player once in his career, albeit last season.
Tkachuk is younger but Pastrnak has been the better player. Their value will depend heavily on each’s willingness to sign an extension.

Aren't the Tkachuk's originally from the Boston area?
I think there is a good that Tkachuk would re-sign in Boston.
Getting Pastrnak to re-sign for a reasonable amount in Calgary would be more difficult.

Their mom is from Winnipeg.
Maybe the Jets will sign him.

Agreed. The only reason the Devils would trade it is because they feel it is a weak draft.

Crapshoot if you'd get a better player than Tkachuk.

I would do Tkachuk for #2 straight up. Which may seem nuts but it's a chance to draft a top line centre AND it extends the compete window.
I also think Cooley is pretty dynamic and will be thought of more highly after his D+1 year.

I would do this.
And look at using the Tkachuk money to see if I can sign Kadri.

Whatever Gaudreau signs for (hopefully) should be what the Flames offer Tkachuk. If he turns that down then I think a deal around the 2nd pick would be wise and the Flames could sign Mangiapane long term, and spend the remaining cap on balancing out the roster with a top 6 forward and figure out the blueline.

Flames can get more then just the 2oa.
I would be asking for one of these packages:
2oa + Sharangovich + foote
2oa + holtz
2oa + mercer
