Well some western teams will improve while the Oilers will be one that regresses with their cap constraints, so good luck following it up bud.

Can you do the same thing without Kane, a year older Smith and a league minimum 1B?

How many years in a row they can be swept out of the playoffs. We're at a count of two now.

One could say that Dallas in the bubble was an abhoration, but if the Flames could score it may have been a different story.

The game is tilting to offense, you can't lock it down anymore. A team has to be able to play at both ends of the ice.
Good thing the Flames were top 5 in offense I believe over 82 games

So let's recap 'the run'...

Overall record: 8 - 8
  • Took 7 games to beat the weakest team in the playoffs
  • Met the Flames at the perfect time, when they went flat with weak goaltending, but were still dominated when the Flames played well
  • Had the Coleman goal counted, the Oilers would have had a losing record in the playoffs, even if they held on to eliminate the Flames
  • Never won a game against a contender

In the end, their defense and their goaltending were mediocre - they were what we all thought they were

Putting an asterisk beside Bobby Orr...

L O effing L

Small sample size, and we need to see him maintain this level first, but from what he has shown so far, IMO, Cale Makar is on track as the best all around defenseman since Bobby Orr

If they are going to use the heavyweight analogy then this was Tyson vs Spinks.

If we have learned anything over the years it's that when Spector declares the Oilers have arrived, the truth is 180 degrees apart.

Couldn’t most of those criticisms also be levelled at the Flames. Truthfully the Oilers were completely outmatched in the Colorado series but they still made it to the third round which is more than can be said about 27 other teams.

They will be unlikely to ever repeat this performance and will probably be left thinking the team is better than they are (which is a thin up front bubble team with weak defence/goaltending).

I love the narrative on SN last night… “another step for the young Oilers”.

They’re the 6th oldest team in the NHL.

Sweet sweet vindication of so many years of annoyance.

The Oilers were drafting first overall literally over a decade ago

This is the only good thing that might come out of this. Holland will think the team is close and just stand pat this summer. Next season, reality check.

The narratives RSN tries to push about the Oilers are mind blowing. Another one: “Avalanche got best of Oilers in ‘heavyweight fight’ conference final.”

It was a sweep for Christ sakes.

So they pulled Cam moon off the radio and put the pirate back on to call playoff games?

Oilers might have missed the playoffs without Kane and for sure would have been eliminated by the Kings without him

Well this isn't true...

Problem is the posters who pretend to be Flames fans but are obviously Oiler (or other) fans and posters who only come here to brag on the rare occasion their team does something right.
