They must have someone else already lined up. Going 7 games against the Hurricanes is nothing to be ashamed about.

Cam Neely and Don Sweeney are far more of a problem than Cassidy

that's a big surprise for sure...
Cassidy will be a hot commodity imo...not sure why the Bruins fired him unless they have already identified a coach, like Trotz for example, to replace Cassidy. I like Trotz, but wouldn't say he's a guaranteed upgrade either...

I like that all these good coaches will switch jobs in a summer when the oilers think they have a long term solution already in woodcroft.

I was surprised to hear this, but the more I think about it the more I'm guessing there could be some big personality conflicts going on.
Krejci gone, Bergeron thinking about retiring, Debrusk asking for a trade...........
Wonder if Cassidy was the reason from some of that stuff?

The only way the Bruins won't regret this move is if they hire Trotz. It's not like that roster is getting any better, in fact it's getting a little worse every season the core ages and he's still getting them to 100+ point regular seasons. Nowhere to go but down really for this team so the next head coach will be in tough replicating Cassidy's success.

Must be a difference of opinion on team direction. Can’t be performance-based

Winnipeg would be a great spot for Cassidy. Who's rumored to go there though?

Scott Arniel is looking like the next coach of the Jets.

Why would Trotz go there? That is team heading the opposite direction of winning. The need a complete rebuild.

As long as Bergeron stays they'll be competitive for a couple more years. Need a second line center but other than that the Bruins are still a really good team. If Trotz wants to chase another cup there are worse places to go.

lol
Bruins point % since Cassidy took over:
0.685
0.683
0.652
0.714
0.652
0.652
100+ point team every season under him (pro rated)
Been to the finals, been to the conference finals, lost in the 2nd round twice
What a ridiculous firing.
He'll end up in Vegas I bet.
Thanks Bruins

That's the thing about really good head coaches in the eastern conference getting fired like Cassidy and Trotz. You don't want to see these coaches resurface in the west.
