Dan Shulman: Smeltzer hasn't given up a homerun in 42 and 2/3rds inning. 2 pitches later Springer crushes it.

Baseball is cruel sometimes, but that one was self inflicted idiocy

that's what good defense does

(not saying the Jays aren't good defensively, just had a tough and unlucky inning)

Why was Teo close to center against a lefty? Especially one that can run fast.

Easiest stand up triple I've seen in a while.

Jays offense is going to have to put on their big boy pants today.

Jesus, this is tough to watch. Really messy from literally everyone and a rare bad start from Gausman. Dude is going to be at 50+ pitches through 2 innings.

It's just a ton of contact, and feels even worse when you compare to the borderline illusory baseballs Berrios was throwing yesterday, it's like they couldn't even find those to hit them.

The Jays need to forget the score and focus on having solid, patient at bats. They can definitely come back in this one but only if they don’t try to hit every pitch out of the ball park.

Exactly. We don't need a 5-run homer, just keep having good at bats and try and chip away. It's only the 2nd inning.

Siddall is convinced the Twins are picking up on something on Gausman, which is why there's so much contact today.
