If you don't understand, I don't think I can help you figure it out.
Thank you. I do get down and negative during losses but I don't want to feel negative after a win that I have to put some kind of qualifier that makes it feel like it wasn't a win.

Oh its win, no doubt about it, the most exciting win I've seen Calgary have in 20 years or so.
I actually completely forget the context in which I made the comment.
I just checked and I see I posted when someone suggested that Calgary didn't "barely" make it out of round one. I simply commented on that, I never suggested that it wasn't worth much. It certainly was. Teams "barely" win all the time.
If there is an arbitration filing by the player he can’t be signed to an offer sheet
I sure hope they can come to terms before that. If the Flames can find a way to have Lucic and Monahan off the roster next year, then cap space isn’t an issue. If not, then I have no idea. It’ll get interesting. Probably not in a good way.
I’m excited to see what Toffoli looks like after his Sutter mandated summer work out plan. Gaudreu was noticeably faster and stronger. Toffoli looked like the least fit player on the team come playoffs.

He also had a much shorter summer than any of the flames

Yeah Tofolli definitely looked like he wasn’t ready to play Sutter hockey. I think being on the worst team in the NHL also does something to you. I expect a great season from Tofolli next year, and pretty much stapled to one of the top two lines.

So you think the Flames didn't outplay Dallas, and weren't being held in check by an outstanding performance by the Dallas goaltender...
Personally, I've actually kind of flip flopped on this subject, especially after the team's performance against the Oilers.
Is it possible the Flames were overrated going into the playoffs? Sort of similar to the Panthers. I'm starting to think the Flames were built more for the regular season than the playoffs this year.
It's just a theory right now since I haven't had time to look into it too much. But Dallas definitely was a more formidable foe than they received credit for. I know Oettinger was spectacular, but diving a bit deeper, I think the Flames could've easily lost this series.
- Game 1: Was close after period 1, too close for comfort in the final 40.
- Game 2: Was also close. game could've gone either way. Series deserved to be tied 1-1.
- Game 3: Deserved win for Dallas.
- Game 5: Thought Dallas outplayed the Flames after 40, easily could've taken it, but Backlund-Mangiapane-Coleman ripped the game from the Stars' hands.
- Game 6: Deserved win for the Stars. Probably their best performance of the playoffs.
So, in my estimation, 4 or 5 games could've easily went to the Stars. Glad it didn't obviously. But for a #2 vs #7 seed, the series was way too close than it should've been. But the Stars deserve credit, their heaviness, structure and checking gave the Flames major trouble at times.
And 4 of the 5 games in round two could have gone to the Flames
The NHL is VERY even, and the margin between winning and losing is miniscule.
No, they weren't over-rated, they just didn't paly their best, had a couple key injuries, and didn't get good goaltending, against the Oilers.
Changing the narrative, in hindsight, is pointless and wrong.
It’s not pointless at all.
You ultimately want to know why you lost so you can fix those problems.
If the Flames badly outplayed the Oilers and we got goalie’d, that’s one thing. But the Flames’ 50 win team were soundly outplayed by their provincial rival, even at 5 on 5 after being considered overwhelming favorites.
The series ended up being not all that dissimilar to the 18-19 season/Colorado series. Throw in the ridiculously close series vs Dallas who barely snuck into the playoffs and yeah, I’d say there’s some important conversations that should be had. Looking the other way and saying everything will be fine is just insanity and this fanbase has seen some insanity over the decades.

3 games in the series were 1 goal games in the last 10 minutes(or less) of the third.
Flames had two goals called back in those games in those last 10 minutes..a gtg and potential GWG.
So as poorly as the Flames looked more often than not, confused as to how they can score 2 or 3 easy goals but then have 2 or 3 score back, there were 3 close games. Game 6 would’ve been the same…if Oilers beat themselves or get a bad bounce as the Flames did, it would be Game 7 tonight with a confident Flames team and a crumbling Oilers team.
