Anyone else find the hype on the Wii just a bit crazy? Almost 5 months
later you still can't find any consoles, and Nintendo says they have
shipped over 6,000,000 of them? The shortage of controllers too.
5 months later people will still lineup at 5AM to pick up a gaming console.
I am so glad that I pre-ordered mine, to the amusement of some who
said I was crazy to pay full retail on it, who now are annoyed they can't
find one.
Hopefully the nunchuck I ordered comes soon, so my daughter can kill
me in the boxing game. She's looking forward to that. [4 years old,
and she wants to pummel daddy...can't wait for the teens.]

I dunno, my Wii's starting to lose it's novelty on me. I mean, I still enjoy playing it, but I notice I've been playing it less and less now. My most anticipated title of the next gen by far is still FFXIII on the PS3. I'm gonna get a PS3 on the day that comes out.

I agree somewhat... I definetely wouldn't buy it as an exclusive console. It's complimentary more than anything else.
I'm not bored with it though, I still have so much to do in The Godfather, and I've got Zelda to finish.
Damn Zelda is LONG!

Yah, the Wii's definitely a complimentary console. It's fun at parties or when you have a big group of people. Oh, and it's also fun when you wanna slack while studying. I found I played it a lot when I was trying to find an excuse not to study.

I finished Zelda tonight.
Whew.
Unfortunately, there are a number of the sub-plots i would like to do, so I may go back into my last save and do a few of those.
Now to get better at Madden.

Over 40 hours of play. That's pretty good.
I didn't play every night, it was probably only 2 or 3 times a week for 2-5 hours a session, so it took quite a while.

It didn't take me that long... I was at 31 or 32, somewhere around there, when I beat it.
But then again I wasn't too big on the whole sidequest thing.
One thing I didn't like about the game was it gives you piles and piles of money but NOTHING to spend it on.

And Street Fighter is nothing but a wannabe King of Fighters.
The uniqueness is actuall that the special moves, attacks, and the fatalities are all motion controlled.

HUGE cult classic on the Sega Saturn.
From Wiki...
Quote:
NiGHTS into Dreams..., commonly referred to as NiGHTS or NiD, is a video game released by Sega in 1996 for the Sega Saturn video game system. The game's story follows two children entering a dream world in order to prevent the real world being taken over. They are aided by the eponymous being, NiGHTS, an androgynous flying acrobat.
The developers' intention was to make the sensation of flight the central gameplay element,[1] achieved through 3D graphics and a combination of both 2D and 3D gameplay.
|
Screens of the original:
And, just announced, the first sequel, NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams, exclusive for Nintendo Wii!
Quote:
The critically-acclaimed franchise that gave gamers the freedom to fly in a world of dreams is coming to the Wii™! As a fantasy jester called NiGHTS, you will experience a heightened sense of gliding, spiraling, and looping through seven extraordinary worlds of Nightopia where the ocean resides in the sky and glass-formed cliffs overlook a castle of mirrors. When the "Nightmarens" from the neighboring dark world of Nightmare infiltrate the idyllic Nightopia, NiGHTS must defend the dream world to keep it safe for all dreamers. This holiday, NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams will take you in a voyage filled with courage, hope and inspiration.

You are correct in that most launch games are good for when you have people over, but I find the Godfather is quite enthralling and addictive and is keeping me busy for hours. Give it a few months when more games are released, there will be some more "hardcore" stuff to keep you busy.

Miyamoto of Nintendo is saying improvements for the Wii to appeal to the more hardcore gaming crowd:
http://www.infendo.com/2007/04/miyam...oming-for.html
I imagine this means many things, including network gaming enhancements.
