Treliving should be fired for not getting four 1st overall picks in six years.

Is our roster good or did Sutter just squeeze every single drop out of it for the regular season? I see big problems on defence and a forward group that can't quite get it done in the pressure of playoff hockey.

He's a smart player. The playoffs last year didn't have the energy they normally do, as evidenced by an average at best Montreal team making it to the finals. Fool's gold that caught the eye of the Flames. If you're projecting that Toffoli moves the needle next year, time will tell, but my eyes tell me his contract is not value positive in today's NHL.

I understood the deal at the time, and if the Flames were going for it, he was a player with a past pedigree. At the time I would have preferred keeping the pick and the prospect, and still feel that way, but the GM owed it to the team to bring in additional weapons. Didn't work, but the effort is understandable.

Yeah but the big problems you see on defence would be solved if we had a #1 defenceman drafted top-3. That’s a foundational piece that Treliving didn’t get access to. You could even argue that he did manage to find one late in the draft, but he said “nah” to Calgary and has a Norris trophy for the Rangers - that was a franchise defining pick.

Ditto with the forward group - we lack the foundational forward you need from the top-3 of the draft.

Sutter absolutely maximized this roster, but the foundation is missing - and I don’t think Treliving had the option/presented the plan to stay at the bottom of the league when he was first hired.

The roster, and the results are fantastic when you look at the reality that the team lacks the foundation required to achieve more than what they have.

I found it weird that we never saw Treliving or Conroy once in the playoffs.

Will be an interesting offseason, if Gaudreau walks then may as well re-tool.

Re-tool how? Add some more mid level talent and hope we can squeak in? Re-tool is so overused. If Gaudreau walks then Treliving better be so close behind him that he's kicking him in the heels. Then we need a serious overhaul.

Give Treliving a chance to build a proper foundation, he's only been around since 2014. He was handcuffed.

Some of you act like some new GM is gonna waltz through the door and get the Flames to final 4 of 32 teams or better

Who is this great GM that wants to come to Calgary, a hard market to attract players and get absolutely ####ed by the league on a regular basis

I wonder if it’s not a bad idea to have a fresh poll on this in a few days. Not today, but when the emotions settle down.

I personally don’t think he should get fired. The team definitely saw progression this year. The rough part is the team we went out of the playoffs against.

Well maybe if Gaudreau walks they commit to a rebuild but I am expecting a retool.

It might be better, it might be worse, but you gotta stop spinning your wheels because what's currently happening isn't working.

It's been 8 years now. He's had enough time.

4 teams of 32 will do better than Calgary...most of them with better NHL geography

should all the rest fire their GMs? it didn't work

I don't care what the other teams do or don't do with their GMs. This team has a GM that clearly can't get the team further. So why keep spinning tires.

How many more years would be enough for you? 3? 5? Do you need 20?

I didnt say they should fire Brad, I 100% understand why they wouldn't. I also wouldn't be too surprised if they did.

What I do think, as others have suggested, is for him to change strategies. Trading picks and prospects to help this core didn't work. Start building for the future. Maybe he's the person to do it, maybe he isn't.

I have no huge issues with him, just the route he's trying to take.

Back when this poll opened, I wanted Treliving fired.

My opinion since then has changed.
